Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A hotdog vendor as a mutated Senator Kelly arrives on the beach

Answer: X-Men

"X-Men" (2000) presents super-powered mutants as part of two opposing sides. Professor X and his X-Men want to co-exist with humans, while Magneto and his "evil mutants" want to wage war against humanity. When Senator Kelly wants to pass the "Mutant Registration Act", the two sides are put in direct conflict with each other.

This is the first theatrical movie based on a Marvel comic where Stan Lee had a cameo.

After being mutated by Magneto and escaping, Senator Kelly emerges from the ocean to astonished beach goers, including Stan Lee as a hotdog vendor. A television on the hotdog stand then has a news report about a UN summit on Ellis Island.
2. A man who is almost hit by a bus, but a young Matt Murdock saves him

Answer: Daredevil

In "Daredevil" (2003), the blind Matt Murdock is a lawyer by day and a costumed vigilante at night. When the Kingpin hires the assassin Bullseye to eliminate a rival, Daredevil and Elektra must bring them to justice.

Stan Lee is reading a newspaper and about to walk off the curb into traffic when Murdock stops him with his cane.

In the 2015 television series "Daredevil", Stan Lee makes another cameo appearance, this time in a photograph as a police officer.
3. A security guard at Bruce Banner's laboratory, working with Lou Ferrigno

Answer: Hulk

In "Hulk" (2003), after Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk after a gamma radiation accident, he is hunted by the government, his mad scientist father, and some Hulk-dogs.

Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno walk out of the building talking about increasing security when Lee stops his conversation to greet "Dr. Krenzler", the name that Bruce uses after being adopted as a child.

Stan Lee previous made a cameo as the jury foreman in "The Trial of the Incredible Hulk", a 1989 made for TV movie. The movie also featured Lou Ferrigno, who was the Hulk in the 1970s series "The Incredible Hulk".
4. Willie Lumpkin, the mailman for the Baxter Building

Answer: Fantastic Four

"Fantastic Four" (2005) is an origin story. After all five gain super powers in an accident on a space station, Dr. Doom tries to get revenge on Reed Richards and the others.

Stan Lee actually created (with artist Dan DeCarlo) the character of Willie Lumpkin, for a newspaper comic strip of the same name that ran from 1959-61. A much older version of the character then appeared in "Fantastic Four" #11 (1963) as the mailman who delivers to the Baxter Building, headquarters of the Fantastic Four.

In the film, Lee greets the Fantastic Four as they enter the lobby of the Baxter Building, welcoming them back and handing them a large stack of "final notice" bills.
5. A man who wrecks his truck trying to move the hammer Mjolnir

Answer: Thor

The prince of Asgard is exiled to Earth in "Thor" (2011), where he must prove his worthiness and stop his scheming brother from usurping the throne.

Thor's hammer Mjolnir bears the inscription that "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only Thor, his father Odin, and the android Vision have been able to pick up the hammer, though Captain America was able to move it a little.

Before S.H.I.E.L.D. quarantines the site, many locals try to move the hammer from where it fell in the desert. Lee tries using his truck, but only succeeds in ripping off the back of his truck. He then asks the crowd, "Did it work?"
6. A librarian at Midtown Science High School, listening to headphones while the Lizard attacks

Answer: The Amazing Spider-Man

"The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) retells the origin of Spider-Man, tying the disappearance of Peter Parker's parents to the work of Dr. Curt Conners. Dr. Conners subjects himself to a regeneration experiment that changes him into the reptilian villain known as the Lizard.

Lee goes about his business in the library, unaware of the battle between Spider-Man and the Lizard happening behind him.
7. A security guard at the museum where Steve Rogers steals his WWII uniform

Answer: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

In "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014), Steve Rogers is Captain America, a WWII super soldier who is revived in modern times. He and his allies expose a conspiracy that the evil organization Hydra has infiltrated and manipulated the peacekeeping forces of S.H.I.E.L.D., and go against the Winter Soldier, an enemy with a surprising link to Captain America.

Upon discovering that the WWII Captain America uniform is missing, Stan Lee remarks that he is "*so* fired".
8. An alien on the planet Xandar

Answer: Guardians of the Galaxy

"Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) is the story of a group of outcasts who join together to defend the alien planet of Xandar from an alien with a powerful gem, the Power Stone.

According to co-writer/director James Gunn, the original plan for Stan Lee's cameo was to be an exhibit in the Collector's museum. Instead, he plays a "ladies man" that Rocket Raccoon sees while looking around on Xandar, the capital planet of the Nova Empire.
9. A WWII veteran who gets drunk on Asgardian liquor, and is carried away saying "Excelsior!"

Answer: Avengers: Age of Ultron

The Avengers must stop an artificial intelligence gone rogue in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).

At the Avengers victory party in the beginning of the film, Lee plays a veteran of Omaha beach that claims he can handle Thor's Asgardian alcohol. He can't.

"Excelsior!" is one of Stan Lee's catch phrases. It was his regular sign-off at the end of his "Stan Lee's Soapbox" columns on the "Bullpen Bulletins" page of Marvel Comics, which ran from 1965-2001.
10. A DJ at a stripclub

Answer: Deadpool

"Deadpool" (2016) provides an origin story for the character. Wade Wilson, a mercenary with a heart of gold, falls in love with Vanessa before getting diagnosed with late-stage cancer. He abandons Vanessa to seek an experimental treatment. The treatment works, but he is disfigured and gains regeneration powers. He then searches for the people responsible for his situation.

Lee is the DJ at the strip club where Vanessa works as a waitress.
