Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A computer programmer is searching for a world-famous terrorist. When he accomplishes his search, this terrorist introduces a completely new world to the programmer. The terrorist reveals to the programmer that the world is an illusion, and now they are on the run from machines as the programmer tries to take control of his destiny.

Answer: The Matrix

This movie has spawned two sequels. It is the most successful R-rated trilogy in movie history and introduced a new photographic method for movie-production called "bullet-time". The programmer is the character Neo who Morpheus (the so-called terrorist) believes is the "One".

The One is a being that can take control of the Matrix (the computer program that most human-beings think is the real world) and manipulate its structure to his/her own advantage. Frankly the sequels are much better in the story, the character drama's, and the special-effects.
2. A high-school girl is encountered by a stranger who tells her that she is the "Chosen One". Her destiny is to battle the forces of darkness and save the world. This movie spawned a popular television series.

Answer: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I have yet to see the movie, but the show is my favorite television show. The show and the movie have different actors, but the flashbacks in the show that take place during the movie have Sarah Michelle Gellar, the television Buffy, act as Buffy rather than show actual scenes from the movie. Besides Buffy Summers, the show and movie have a completely different cast of characters.
3. This movie is based on the characters of two television shows. It is a cartoon that stars talking babies, nature-show hosts, and a girl that can talk to animals.

Answer: Rugrats Go Wild!

This movie is a mixture of "Rugrats!" and "The Wild Thornberries", which is the first time that Nickelodeon (the television station that shows both of these cartoons and the movies based on them) has ever done anything like this. It only earned them about $40 million at the U.S. box-office though.
4. Two college-students are on their way back home for the summer. They decide to take a long and mostly deserted highway to get there. While they are driving past an abandoned church they happen to see a cloaked man throwing a body down a pipe. When they get under the church and see what has been going on, they are chased by a person that could possibly be one of the most powerful monsters ever in movie history. What movie is this?

Answer: Jeepers Creepers

This movie was named after an old song that they play quite frequently throughout the movie. The Creeper is what the monster is called, and it is one of the scariest and coolest movie monsters I've ever seen. The Creeper can't be killed because whatever it loses in a battle, it eats from someone else and regains it.

The only good thing about it, is that it only emerges every 23 years for only 23 days. It spawned a sequel which takes place on the 23rd day and shows how truly macabre the Creeper can be.
5. A woman and her child have to get their car fixed, so they go out to the best car mechanic that is close enough to get to with their car. When they get to the mechanic's house, however, it is deserted. They decide to leave, but the car breaks down and stalls. When they are about to get out and go into the house a large Saint Bernard walks out of the garage. The mother realizes that this dog is rabid, and they are unable to leave the car. They have to rely on someone to find them, or they will die in their car.

Answer: Cujo

Cujo is the name of the rabid Saint Bernard. I wasn't a huge fan of this movie. The book, written by the master of horror Stephen King, was a work of art that made readers read eagerly through the entire book, not wanting to put it down until they find out what happens next, and after that, and after that.

The movie left out key parts of the book, such as the mechanic's family suspecting something being wrong and, in their own way, helping the woman and her child a little. The movie's Saint Bernard was actually the same dog that portrayed Beethoven in the "Beethoven" movies.
6. An oppressed and friendless man who lives at home with his mother is told, by his mother, to check the basement for rats. He does see rats, so he sets up traps everywhere down there. One day a white rat gets trapped and the man decides to free him. From then on the rat (Socratees) and the man form a friendship and possibly a psychic bond. Everything is going well, except for at work where he was about to get fired. One day he brings Socratees to work with him, and his boss discovers Socratees and kills him. Then the man sets out, controlling dozens of rats to kill his oppressors, and soon loses control and has to fight for his life against almost 200 super-rats.

Answer: Willard

This is a remake to the 1971 movie of the same title. The original spawned a sequel called "Ben", which is the name of the rat that Willard uses to keep his control over the rats. Ben, however, is rebellious, and when he is abandoned by Willard he gets angry.
7. A farmer's beanfield is dying. He manipulates a water pipe to keep his bean field living, which sets a chain of events into motion. This politicizes a community, which rises against a development corporation and a police force that it colludes with.

Answer: The Milagro Beanfield War

Robert Redford directed this movie, which is based on a novel, which is written by John Nickols.
8. A woman's niece has an unexplainable death. She decides to research into the final week of her niece's life and hears rumors of a video that her niece and her niece's friends watched exactly seven days before they all died. When she watches the tape she begins to believe the rumors of the tape and only has seven days to unravel its mystery.

Answer: The Ring

"The Ring" is the American remake of a classic Japanese horror picture "Ringu". It is possibly the best horror movie that has ever been made with the best direction of a horror movie and the best acting too. The actress that portrayed the villain Samara Morgan, Daveigh Chase, won an MTV Movie Award for that role.
9. A rookie FBI agent is put on the case of a serial killer going around the country. In order to make the job easier they send her to consult a legendary psychotic genius to crack into the serial killer's mind and track him down. Based on a book by Thomas Harris.

Answer: The Silence of the Lambs

"Red Dragon" was the first book in the "Hannibal Lecter" series. The first movie based on the book series was "Manhunter", which was based on "Red Dragon". "The Silence of the Lambs" is the second movie and book, "Hannibal" is the final book and the third movie. "Red Dragon" is the fourth and final movie.
10. A father, mother, and son all go to a large hotel during the winter to make sure that nothing happens to it. They are strapped for cash and need the money from the job, and the time for the father to write his novel. Their child has another personality that tells him that something is wrong with the house. That's when weird things start to happen, crazy people in rooms, kids in the halls. The father begins to get infected by the insanity of the house and decides to kill his wife and son, and it becomes a chase that could result in life or death.

Answer: The Shining

"The Shining" is based on one of Stephen King's master-pieces and probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. "Identity" takes place at a hotel and is a horror story as well, but the situation is entirely different in a way I can't explain for people who haven't seen it. "Salem's Lot" is a Stephen King book as well, but I don't know if it is a movie.

Many famous quotes have come from "The Shining" such as "Redrum!" "Here's Johnny!" "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." I hope you enjoyed my quiz!
