Passamaquoddy is a quaint little town with down to earth residents who tend to lean a little toward the superstitious. This is not the name of an actual town in Maine, it is however the name of a Native American tribe located in Princeton, Maine.

Elliott the dragon communicates by a series of pops, clicks and various vocalizations which seem to be understood only by Pete. Elliott comes to Pete when he needs help to get away from the abusive Gogans. He has quite a mischievous streak, but he makes a great friend for Pete.

Nora was engaged to a sailor by the name of Paul, but Paul's ship sank off of Cape Hatteras and was never found. Nora has been waiting for a year for Paul to come back and the people of the town keep telling her it's time to move on.

constructed on a rocky point above Morro Bay, California. The light carries 18 to 24 miles and works so well that the studio has had to get permission from the U.S. Coast Guard to light the lamp for fear of confusing passing ships.

Elliott has way too much fun when they arrive in the town of Passamaquoddy. He's not happy that Pete is telling him that he has to stay invisible, so he creates some mischief. Besides scaring Victoria, he tears down a picket fence and leaves his big footprints in a newly poured sidewalk. Poor Pete gets blamed for all of this mess, and all he wants is a place to belong.

Dr Terminus is a notorious snake oil salesman well known in the town. He mixes up "potato squeezings" and seawater and passes them off as medical miracle cures from Paris, France.

Pete tries to help Nora find Paul by showing Elliott a picture. Elliott finds Paul in a hospital recovering from his injuries and suffering memory loss. After Elliott tips over his bed, Paul remembers everything and hires a ship captain to take him back to Passamaquoddy.

Hoagy is the assistant to Dr Terminus. He pretends to be an old lady who is cured of deafness, and a lame old man whose legs are cured after taking a swig of the Doc's medicine. Bones is Hoagy's name for a full size human skeleton that he is eerily attached to.

Merle, Lena, Willie and Grover Gogan are the slimy family who buy Pete for fifty dollars, so they can mistreat him and use him as a slave. Willie says this after they have a fight with Lampie and Nora over Pete landing the Gogans in the water.

Willie Gogan: "We done had our bath in May!"

Dr Terminus tries to play on the superstitions of the people of Passamaquoddy, and the Gogan's desire to regain Pete, to kill Elliott and use him for parts for his medicines. We see the name of the boathouse a couple of times. First when the Gogans escape with Pete, then when Elliott is laughing at the Gogans and rolling around on the ground.
