Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of the best things about this movie is the soundtrack. Good music magnifies the excellence of a good film, which it certainly did with this one. What was the theme song to this movie?

Answer: Miserlou

Dick Dale and his Deltones recorded "Miserlou" in 1962. It is not certain, but many people believe the song had lyrics that were never recorded in. A group called Admiral Twin recorded a song called "Miserlou" that had Greek lyrics. The Miserlou is a Greek dance.
2. When Uma Thurman O.D.s on Vince's pure heroin (she mistakes it for cocaine because it was a white powder in a little plastic baggie), Vince takes Mia to Lance's house. Lance is a drug dealer who is friends with Vince. They inject an adrenalin shot straight to her heart. What color was the marker used to pinpoint the exact spot to inject?

Answer: Red

The scene involves Vince (John Travolta) giving Mia (Uma Thurman) an adrenalin shot after she O.D.s on Vince's pure heroin. Vince had to stab her with the adrenalin shot with enough force to break through her breast bone.

This scene was shot with Vince pulling the shot out really fast with force and then streamed backwards, looking like he stabbed her.
3. The movie contains three intertwined stories that all play together as a movie in a nonsequential order. "The Gold Watch" is the scene that takes place last. How does the audience know this?

Answer: Vince is killed by Butch

Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis) is a boxer that is supposed to throw his next fight in the fifth round. Butch was in his apartment's kitchen and Vince, a hit man, comes to kill him. Butch is waiting with a gun. Vince shows his face, and is shot a few times in the chest.
4. Vince is ordered from a crime boss, Marcellus Wallace, to take his wife out for a night on the town. Vince goes to Mia's house to prepare to take her out when she comes out with a video camera, preparing to interview her companion for the night. She says "There two types of people in the world." What types of people are there, according to her?

Answer: Elvis People and Beatles People

She asks this to Vince before she starts filming to give him a feel of the interview. She then says that she won't ask him that because she already told him what she thought he was. When they get to the 1950's nostalgia restaurant, Mia says to Vince, "An Elvis man should love this."
5. Jules Winfeld, Vince's partner, recited a passage from which book of the Bible before offering his victim?

Answer: Ezekiel

Samuel L. Jackson won Best Supporting Actor at the 1995 Golden Globes. Samuel L. Jackson auditioned for Tim Roth's role (Mr. Orange) in "Reservoir Dogs", but did not win.

Jules's Ezekiel 25:17:
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great
vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy
my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my
vengeance upon you."

Most of this verse is made up from the real Ezekiel 25:17, which is, "And I shall strike down upon you with great vengeance and furious rebukes. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
6. Frequently throughout the movie, there is a briefcase that is opened. The intriguing thing about the case is we (the audience) never find out what is in it, we see only a bright gold light. Who is the first to open this briefcase?

Answer: Vincent

Although we never find out what is in the case, there are a few reasonable theories. One is that Marcellus's soul was in it.
EVIDENCE:
-The briefcase's combination is "666," implying that maybe the devil had hold of the case now, and the Marcellus sold his soul to the devil.
-Marcellus is shown with a bandage over his neck in the same place the soul was removed in ceremonies.
-Marcellus had the briefcase robbed from him.

Tarantino denied this and said the Ving Rhames (Marcellus Wallace) had a scar he wanted covered. It was just a fill-in-the-blank for the viewers.
7. Butch Coolidge kills a few people in this movie. Who is the first person in sequential order (remember, the movie is not in sequential order) that he kills?

Answer: Floyd Wilson

Floyd was the opposing boxer. Butch did not know he killed him until after Esmeralda asked him what killing someone was like. Butch kills Vega last in sequential order. Zed raped Marcellus and was killed by Marcellus shortly afterwards. Maynard was slit open by a Samurai sword that Butch found. Even in the order the movie's arranged in, Floyd Ray Wilson is first.
8. In the O.D. scene, Vince prepares to take Mia to Lance's house. He calls him on a cellular phone. Vince began talking about how Mia was O.D.ing and he had to help. Lance, knowing that he could picked up by the cops if the signal was recepted, decided it was a prank call and hung up. What was Lance doing when Vince called?

Answer: Watching T.V. and eating cereal

Lance is a drug dealer who treats his wife like dirt. He was sitting eating his cereal, Frute Brutes, and watching an old black and white T.V. show. Vince calls, but he doesn't answer the phone right away.

Pam Grier auditioned for the role of Lance's wife, but Tarantino turned her down because he couldn't see her being pushed around like that. She later starred in his film "Jackie Brown" in 1997.
9. Mia and Vince go out to a 1950's nostalgia restaurant. Mia insists that Vince and her participate in the dancing competition. What song is playing during the dance?

Answer: You Never Can Tell (C'est la Vie)

"'Ce'st la vie' say the old folks. It goes to show you never can tell." "You Never Can Tell (C'est la Vie)" was sung in 1964 by Chuck Berry.
10. In the edited for T.V. version of the film, one character is removed completely from the film. Who is it?

Answer: The Gimp

The TV companies went to extreme measures to extract every scene involving "The Gimp" from the film. In the edited version, there is virtually no trace of him, like he was never in the film. "The Gimp" is in the scene where Marcellus is raped by Zed. Stephen Hibbert is credited as "The Gimp."
