The remaining Avengers attempt to come together to formulate a plan to avenge the globe. Tony goes off on his own, feeling like it was over. He marries Pepper and they have a daughter together. The rest of the team goes their separate ways until Ant-Man comes around five years later.

The Avengers locate Thanos when they detect a power surge from the Infinity Stones on the planet he is hiding on. After Carol tells the team that they have a shot at beating him, she and Thor have this exchange. They find Thanos, who had used the Stones to destroy the Stones, two days before the Avengers get there.

When they realize the Stones are gone, Thor kills Thanos with Stormbreaker.

After he and Cap patch things up, Gamora, Rocket, and Iron Patriot join the rest of the team and start to hatch a plan to avenge the globe. Hulk and Rocket go to get Thor, who has let himself go. He becomes the first one to test the feasibility of the time travel plan. He successfully travels to his farm before the snap from Thanos, and hears his family briefly, before being brought back out.

Referring to the battle in New York from the first "Avengers" movie, Black Widow realizes that three Stones are there at the same time. Loki possesses the Tesseract, which is the Space Stone, and the Mind Stone in his scepter. The Time Stone is in New York at the Sanctum, held by The Ancient One.

This helps the Avengers get three of the Stones at the same time. Thor and Rocket travel to Asgard to get the Reality Stone, while Black Widow and Hawkeye travel to Vormir to get the Soul Stone. Nebula and Iron Patriot retrieve the Power Stone from Morag.

Tony uses his time in 1970 to retrieve the Space Stone, and ends up reconnecting with his father, even though Howard doesn't know it's actually Tony. He takes the opportunity to thank his father for what he's done, and tells Howard that everything will turn out ok.

Answer: "I'm starting to think, we're thinking about different people here, Natasha."

Both Black Widow and Hawkeye care for each other more than anything, so they both fight over who will sacrifice themselves for the Soul Stone. Eventually, Black Widow gets the best of Hawkeye and allows him to live, and take the Soul Stone.

It's the start of the long and epic battle for humanity between Thanos and the Avengers. Before they attack Thanos, Thor says, "Let's kill him properly this time." He and Captain America, and Iron Man engage Thanos, before Dr. Strange and the rest of the Avengers, from all of the previous Marvel movies, make their reappearance after being snapped back into existence by the Hulk.

The first time Thor finds out that Captain America may be worthy is in "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Everyone attempts to lift the hammer and fails. It's implied that Steve doesn't actually try to lift it, even though it does move slightly. Here, it's proved that he is worthy to lift Mjolnir, and through the rest of the battle, he uses it to great effect.

This was Thanos' life motto while attempting to find the Infinity Stones and use them to bring the universe into balance. Once he realizes that Tony has the Stones, it's too late. Tony says, "And I am Iron Man." With a snap of his fingers, Tony Stark sacrifices himself to rid the universe of Thanos and his entire army.
