1. (1939) When a young girl's dog is threatened she decides to run away. She experiences a change of heart when she's led to believe that her aunt is sick, but she doesn't get back in time to get into the storm cellar before the tornado hits. She's knocked unconscious by flying debris, and when she wakes up, she isn't in Kansas anymore.
2. (1993) The security of a major new theme park is threatened when one of the employees shuts down the power. All Nedry wants to do is bypass security so that he can commit a little scientific espionage and sell the frozen embryos to the highest bidder. Unfortunately he doesn't realize that his breach in security allows the park's attractions to roam free and eat whoever gets into their way, including Nedry himself. Of course the island is being pelted with a tropical storm while all of this is going on.
3. (1980) Jack Torrance has had some bad breaks and made some bad choices. When he accepts the position of winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel, he really intends to make a fresh start and try to get his writing career on track. Unfortunately he made the mistake of visiting her in the field, where she was doing what she did best - chasing storms and trying to gather new data that would give scientists a better understanding of how tornadoes occurred. Before long Bill is dragged back into the chase that he once loved so much, and all thoughts of divorce evaporate.
5. (2000) In the fall of 1991, after a poor season of fishing, the sword fishing boat Andrea Gail went out for just one more run. The fact that the fish were finally biting worked against them when their ice-making machine broke down. Fearful of losing their best catch of the season to spoilage, they decided to try and make it back home, despite the storm warnings being broadcasted. They were caught in a confluence of weather systems that is seldom seen, and never made it back home.
6. (1998) While on vacation with her boyfriend, Robin Monroe reluctantly agrees to help out the magazine that she works for by covering a story on a neighbouring island. Unfortunately the only plane available for charter belongs to a local pilot with whom she shares a mutual dislike for each other. When the plane is brought down by a severe storm, they find themselves stranded on a deserted island together. When they witness a murder by modern day pirates, they find themselves running for their lives.
7. (2003) Sergeant West has a reputation for being the drill sergeant that everyone hates. Not one to tolerate weakness, he's not about to allow anything as insignificant as a hurricane get in the way of a training exercise for his men. However when West and many of his men end up missing and reported dead, an investigation must be launched. Since neither of the survivors is willing to speak to the investigating officer, former Army Ranger, Tom Hardy, is called in to work his magic and get to the bottom of things. It soon turns out that nothing is the way that it seems.
8. (2004) After years of warning about the effects of global warming, climate specialist Jack Hall is alarmed to find that what he feared the most is happening. As severe weather destroys civilization as we now know it, Jack finds himself on a desperate odyssey to find his son, who is in New York at an academic competition.
9. (2001) If Saruman hadn't called down the unnatural blizzard, the fellowship would have been able to cross over the mountain pass of Caradhras, and would not have had to enter the mines of Moria. If they had not entered Moria, they would not have met up with the Balrog, and Gandalf would not have fallen.
10. (2000) When Chuck Noland kisses his girlfriend goodbye and gets on a FedEx plane to Malaysia, he has no idea that it will be four years until he sees her again. When his plane crashes during a thunder storm, he finds himself washed up on a deserted island, the only survivor. His efforts to keep himself alive and his sanity intact are aided by his only companion, a volleyball named Wilson that washed ashore from the crash. Eventually he manages to rig a raft and find his way home.
