Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Carlo Bartolucci was a retired mob boss. He even changed his name to Charlie. What was his new last name?

Answer: Barret

Academy Award winner Christopher Walken played former head mobster Carlo Bartolucci. He changed his name to friendly Charlie Barret. Of course, once he met Avery and his pals, his Mr. Nice Guy attitude flew out the window. Charlie still had mafia connections.
2. Meet the guys! T.K, Avery, Max, Ira, and Brett. During Charlie's abduction, two guys were NOT in the car. Who along with Ira was Not in the car?

Answer: T.K.

Charlie Barret fought furiously against Max, Brett, and Avery. Avery was in the driver's seat, Brett had a hard time strapping Charlie to the front passenger's seat and Max had a hard time placing the chloroform soaked napkin to his face. Brett was finally able to keep Charlie strapped to the seat and covered his head with a white cloth bag. Max ended up having to give Charlie the haldol injection in his neck. T.K. was at Ira's home, waiting for Brett, Avery, and Max to come there with Charlie. Ira didn't show up til later.
3. When Charlie woke up and saw his ringed finger lying on ice, he went berserk. He then told them that the ring only been off his finger once. What was the guy's name he took his ring off for?

Answer: Nick the Nose

T.K. was the med student. He surgically removed Charlie's pinkie finger, that had the emerald jeweled ring on it. Later, Charlie told them the story of a guy called Nick the Nose. He was a real jerk to his then girlfriend Lydia played by Laura San Giacomo.

She met Charlie one night at a disco club. Lydia knew Nick was going to kill her because she bought some very expensive shoes with his money. As a distraction Charlie came over and Nick admired his ring, so Charlie took it off and gave it to him. Later, Charlie killed Nick and put the ring back on his finger. Charlie took it off his finger one last time at the end of the movie.

He put it on the edge of the boat, so Max would see it when he climbed back on the boat.
4. Ira's house was where Brett, Max, Avery, and T.K. kept Charlie. Poor Ira came home expecting to bake brownies and play what kind of card game with them?

Answer: poker

Ira had absolutely nothing to do with his buddies' plot. He walked in confused when he saw Charlie duct taped to his dad's favorite chair. He knew this was definitely not poker and first thought Charlie was a drug addicted junkie.
5. Hot-tempered Lono was Charlie's right-hand man. He was annoyed that everyone kept calling his sting-ray boots, 'fish boots'.

Answer: true

When Charlie stepped out the car, to enter The Plaza, he called them 'fish boots'. A guy who worked for Charlie also called them 'fish boots'. Lono thought that spending $1,500 for his boots were a good deal. He also owned a pair of white Nikes and Bruno Magli shoes that he said he couldn't wear anymore because of the O.J. Simpson trial.
6. The guys wanted Charlie to pay the ransom to get back Avery's sister Elise. Of course, Elise was never abducted. Who was Elise's boyfriend and partner in crime?

Answer: Max

Max told Charlie about how their parents didn't want them dating anymore. Max and Elise always went on her dad's boat because Elise's dad got sea sick so much that he never wanted to go on there anymore. What he left out was, the plot to run away together with $2 million dollars of Charlie's money.

Although, technically it was Charlie's lawyer's money. Charlie was going to pay him back once he got Elise back and the banks opened. But since everything was one enormous lie, Charlie just had to retrieve his lawyer's money from Max and Elise.
7. Charlie's lawyer Marty told him that the word on the street was that it was an inside guy. Charlie told this to T.K. Who did T.K. tell?

Answer: Ira

T.K. told this to Ira when they were outside at the fuse box, turning back on the power. Back inside the house, Ira told Charlie he was going to find out who was behind it.
8. When the security guard came to Ira's house because the master bedroom alarm was triggered, he needed Ira to give him Ira's dad's password or else he'll notify the police. What was the password that Ira had trouble remembering?

Answer: double bogey

Ira's dad was a golf fanatic. The answer and other three choices are all golf terms. Finally, it came to Ira and he was excited. Just when he was about to close the door, the security guard said he has to walk the perimeter. Charlie was hidden away, gagged with his own tie, and had a gun pointed to his head by Brett.
9. Ira was a worry-wart, Avery was battling inner demons, T.K. was into self-medication, and Max was usually very nonchalant. Which option best described Brett?

Answer: control freak

Brett was the one with the control issues. Charlie told him that he could leave nothing to chance. Avery felt such guilt over his gambling woes and his sister being kidnapped because of him. Ira was very whiny, clean-cut and a square. Max had a very laid-back way about him but that was all surface.

He was deeply in love and did whatever necessary to be with Elise. He even deceived his friends on a grand scale. T.K. was taking injection shots in the arm of a medication he shouldn't of had in his possession. Charlie sensed that T.K. was abusing prescription drugs and told him so. T.K. said nothing to refute him. With all the wealth the friends grew up around, they all had parents that were very stingy with their money. So, they definitely didn't want their parents to know about the abduction.
10. Throughout the movie, Ira was always in Charlie's good graces. Which one of the friends was shot and killed in the end?

Answer: Max

Avery had a fifty thousand dollar gambling debt. He met with two guys who were called Heckle and Jekyll. They cleared the debt and they worked an arrangement out for Avery. Then secretly, his own sister intervened along with his best friend Max and offered the guys a million dollars to pretend that they abducted her. Nobody was to get hurt. Max and Elise thought they could just sail away on Elise's dad's boat. Max should had never mentioned Elise's dad's boat.

He told Charlie that was the only place that Elise and him could use as a hide out without detection.

After the two guys were killed, he knew that was where he could find them. Elise looked right into Charlie's eyes and said yes to the fact that the fake kidnapping was her idea. The two love birds were then shot and killed on Elise's dad's boat.
