His wife passed away due to an accident in the factory where she worked. The untimely disappearance of the sheriff makes Jackson the new head of the police department.

Charles is visibly upset with Joe over the contest for the heart of their actress. Charles confesses that he has designs for the affections of this girl. Even so, he laments that the girl appears to like Joe. As they are discussing this matter, Joe notices something bizarre and extraordinary on the film that they recorded. They view a glimpse of some sort of incredible creature.

Answer: Jackson blames Louis for the tragic death of Jackson's wife.

Louis didn't show up for work one day. Jackson's wife filled in for Jackson and was tragically killed in a factory mishap. Jackson blames Louis for the incident. Later though, Jackson laments that it was only an accident and tacitly forgives Louis.

The Air Force assumes command of the operation. Led by Colonel Nelic, the Air Force attempts to quietly evacuate the town and take control of the mysterious entity. Since the Air Force has led the initial research and investigation of the unknown phenomenon, they assume the lead on this investigation.

Answer: Operation Walking Distance

The military decides to manufacture an emergency situation in order to remove the town residents. They create a fire that rapidly spreads throughout the town. The residents are forced to evacuate, leaving the military relatively free to pursue their mission.

Answer: Dr. Woodward

Dr. Woodward is the science teacher at the local school. He was ignominiously dismissed from military service after having expressed discontent with the way the creature was treated. Nevertheless, Dr. Woodward formed an important telepathic bond with the creature.

Answer: It simply wants to go home.

Joe deftly discerns the location of the creature. After making a significant telepathic bond with the creature, Joe learns that the creature only wants to return to its home planet. The creature has been working to this end for quite some time. It has devised a method of transport. In a fitting end, the creature completes the manufacture of its craft and launches into the beyond.
