Frodo does defend himself quite well against her, but it is Sam who saves the day and injures the big baddie.

I have had many complaints about this question, so I went to watch the film, and here is what happened. Frodo is standing on the projection over the lava, and was about to throw the Ring in. The Ring has a hold on Frodo's mind, and so it is not destroyed. Gollum arrives on the scene, and knocks Sam out with a rock.

He then proceeds to wrestle with Frodo, and ends up biting the finger off that contains the Ring. Gollum, now possessing the Ring, starts to dance with glee. Frodo starts to fight with Gollum, and both move too close to the edge, and both of them fall in.

It is Frodo however, that manages to grab onto something. Gollum is the one holding the Ring when it falls into the fire. Although it wasn't intentional, Gollum is the one that destroys the Ring.

Answer: Deagol

Deagol found it on the riverbed when he was pulled in by a fish. Smeagol then asks for it, and when Deagol refuses, he proceeds to murder his friend.
I have had many correction notices telling me that Deagol was Smeagol's brother, and some saying that it was his cousin. I am going to keep it as his friend, as a relation can also be a friend.

5. Eowyn managed to kill one of the Nazgul's beasts when she was protecting her uncle, but does she also manage to kill the Ringwraith?

Merry was the one who crept up behind it, and stabbed it in the back, causing it to be distracted. Eowyn then took of her helmet and declared, "I am no man," before stabbing it in it's 'face'.
The 'it' I am referring to is the leader of the Nazgul's, and resides in the Dead City. It was a great accomplishment on Eowyn's part.

6. Name the person who said the quotation. "It still only counts as one."

Answer: Gimli

Legolas and Gimli are having a competition; to see who can kill the most enemies. Legolas jumps up onto one of the oliphants, and takes out all of the enemies on it, and the creature itself, making a stylish finish by sliding down the trunk and stepping onto the ground.

7. When Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin return to the Shire, who does Sam marry?

Answer: Rosie

All four of them are sitting in the pub having a drink, and Sam sees Rosie working behind the bar. He puts his drink down, and with determination, goes to talk to her. The next scene is their marriage.

Frodo leaves with Bilbo on the ship. He says that the journey has changed him too much to live in the Shire again.

Sam is very distressed to find out that Frodo is leaving, and so Frodo gave him the book, telling him that the last few pages are his.
