When the Hobbits tried to bow before the newly crowned king, he called them friends, and told them that they bowed before no man. After Aragorn bowed before them, so did the entire population of Minas Tirith.

When Deagol refuses to part with it, a struggle follows, during which Smeagol strangles Deagol.

Pippin finds the palantir in the water surrounding Saruman's tower, and picks it up. Knowing what it is, Gandalf takes it away from him, but Pippin is drawn to look into it when Gandalf is asleep. In the book Wormtongue, not realizing what it is, tosses the palantir out the window at Gandalf, much to the chagrin of Saruman.

Pippin realizes that Faramir is still alive, even though Denethor refuses to see it. Pippin finds Gandalf who breaks down the door, preventing Denethor from killing Faramir, but not from killing himself.

In defence of her uncle, King Theoden, Eowyn goes head to head with the King of the Nazgul, assisted by Merry, who stabs him from behind. When he arrogantly asserts that no man can kill him, she replies that she is not a man, before stabbing him in the face.

When Gandalf takes Pippin to see Denethor, to explain what he has seen in the palantir, Denethor wants to know why his son Boromir is dead. Pippin tells Denethor that Boromir died while defending Pippin and his kinsman, and offers his allegiance in repayment of that debt.

Merry and Pippin had found a stash of tobacco from the Shire in Saruman's store rooms. Pippin had already used up his share of the tobacco, so Merry gave him the last of his share.

Once inside Sauron's fortress they had to cross fields where orcs were camping out, before they could get to Mount Doom. In order to pass without being noticed, they put on armour that they took from the bodies inside the tower just outside of Shelob's lair.

About to leave Middle Earth, Arwen has a vision of the son that she and Aragorn will create. At this point she turns back and confronts her father, Elrond, with the half truths he has told her to convince her to go. She convinces Elrond to have the sword reforged, which he then takes to Aragorn.

Gandalf wanted to impress upon Denethor the importance of what Pippin had seen in the palantir, but all Denethor cared about was what had happened to Boromir. According to the book, and not explained in the movie, Denthor had his own palantir, and the amount of time that he'd spent looking at Sauron's growing army was the reason for his madness.

Aragorn is going to summon the dead to fulfill their oath. At the entrance to the tunnels Legolas follows Aragorn, while Gimli hestitates. Then Gimli makes a self-deprecating remark about an Elf being willing to go underground while a Dwarf is afraid to, and follows them both.

Throughout the movie she believes herself to be in love with Aragorn, but she realizes that she is more in love with the image than with the actual man. She and Faramir are seen standing beside each other a few times, and smiling a lot.
