Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The show and film's writer, Rob Thomas, completed a script for the "Veronica Mars" movie shortly after the show was originally canceled, but wasn't able to fund the movie until launching a Kickstarter campaign online.

Answer: True

The funding of the film 'Veronica Mars' was the first major Kickstarter funded film project; since doing so, many other celebrities and independent filmmakers have used Kickstarter campaigns to try and raise the funds they need, rather than relying on a studio.

In their campaign to fund the film, several of the stars appeared in a promotional video and they were able to reach their $2 million goal in under 12 hours.
2. Which of the following characters from the 'Veronica Mars' TV show was NOT in the film?

Answer: Duncan

Alas, no one has seen or heard from Duncan since his character escaped with Lily, his and Meg's daughter that he kidnapped in the show's second season. While we did not see Duncan, the film did include a small storyline with his mother, Celeste Kane, who was described in the film as being "one of California's richest divorcees".
3. The film focused on the murder of Carrie Bishop, a pop star and girlfriend to Logan Echolls. What was Carrie's stage name?

Answer: Bonnie DeVille

The role of Carrie Bishop was played in the film by Andrea Estella; Leighton Meester appeared on the TV show 'Veronica Mars' as Carrie Bishop, a girl who faked a pregnancy by her teacher in order to protect her best friend, Susan Knight, who was actually pregnant by the teacher (played by Adam Scott).

The character of Ruby Jetson, Bonnie's biggest fan, was played by Gaby Hoffman from HBO's 'Girls'.
4. Veronica's investigation revealed that Carrie's murder was linked to a fateful night at sea nine years earlier when Carrie's best friend, Susan Knight, died. In fact, Veronica discovered that the majority of the boat party's attendees were being blackmailed. Which of the party-goers was NOT being blackmailed?

Answer: Dick

It turned out that Susan had died of a drug overdose on the boat after being given too high of a dosage. Carrie, Gia and Luke were all being blackmailed with a photograph of them dumping Susan's dead body into the ocean. In the end, the photo and truth all came out, thanks to Veronica. Dick was not being blackmailed because he still did not know the truth about how Susan died; on the night of the overdose, he had passed out long before anything happened and Gia said that Dick "sold the lie better than they ever could".
5. Which of the following people did NOT get punched at some point at the Neptune High reunion?

Answer: Veronica

Of course, it wouldn't be a Neptune High function without fighting. Madison decided to show Veronica's infamous college sex-tape at the reunion and then a different fight broke out with Logan and other attendees, likely having to do with the accusations that Logan was a murderer. Piz, Dick, Eli, Wallace, and Logan all were a part of the melee, which was broken up only when Veronica set off the sprinkler system. Madison was punched by Veronica shortly thereafter, which she definitely deserved.
6. Which of the following people did NOT have a cameo appearance in the film as themselves?

Answer: Jay Leno

Ira Glass appeared when Veronica met Piz at his job, presumably working for Ira's National Public Radio program, "This American Life". Harvey Levin, the famous gossip peddler from TMZ, appeared in the film when Veronica and Logan were watching the television gossip regarding Carrie's death. James Franco's appearance in the film focused on Veronica wanting information about strange Internet videos of James where he was either struggling to try on skinny jeans or trying to find words that rhyme with orange.
7. In the film, Logan is a thriving member of which branch of the military?

Answer: Navy

By all appearances the Navy truly straightened up Logan's ways and made him a much better man. When Logan arrived to meet Veronica at the airport, he had been previously meeting with the JAG (Judge Advocate General's) Corp., so he was dressed in his full white uniform. Upon seeing him Veronica remarked that he really should "only wear that".
8. Who was the mastermind behind Carrie's murder, while also being partially responsible for Susan's death and Gia's murder?

Answer: Stu "Cobb" Cobbler

On the night that Susan died, it was Cobb that brought the drugs she overdosed on, and it was also Cobb that took the blackmail photo of Luke, Gia, and Carrie dumping Susan's body into the ocean. Cobb forced Luke and Gia to kill Carrie in order to keep her quiet, as the guilt was slowing eating away at her. Finally, when Gia was telling Veronica the truth, Cobb shot her in her apartment and then tried to kill Veronica. Fortunately, Veronica Mars is very crafty and she was able to outsmart him and get the drop on him with a golf club to the face.
9. The corruption in the Neptune Sheriff's Department runs so deep that the sheriff had a deputy murdered in a vehicle collision. In fact, the deputy was in the process of telling Keith about the corruption when the truck plowed into their car. Which deputy was murdered?

Answer: Jerry Sacks

Keith's work in Neptune continued to involve lovable public defender Cliff McCormack, as well as the corrupt local police, run by Sheriff Dan Lamb, brother to sheriff Don Lamb (from the television series). Sheriff Lamb was eventually ousted from office at the end of the film, thanks to Veronica and Logan's investigative work, but it was unclear as to whether he would be held accountable for the death of Deputy Sacks.

The mustachioed Deputy Sacks was a regular on all three seasons of the TV show 'Veronica Mars' and when his character first appeared in the film he was arresting Veronica for breaking and entering. Upon seeing him Veronica commented, "Good for you for rocking the mustache until it came back in style."
10. At the end of the film, Veronica went back to New York City to embark on her career as an attorney.

Answer: False

After the law firm rescinded their offer and Veronica discovered just how much more corrupt the city of Neptune had become since she left, she decided to stay in Neptune, take over her father's private investigation business, hire Mac to assist her in tackling corruption and crime, and wait for Logan to return from the sea.

It would all be very romantic if we didn't know just how dramatic and crazy the life of Veronica Mars can be when she is back in Neptune.
