Kevin's family planned to go to Paris for the holidays but he was punished for fighting with his brother, Buzz, the night before they flew out. Kevin's family slept in and scrambled to get to the airport on time and left Kevin home alone, as he was asleep in a room on the third floor.

While Kevin was home alone, he ordered a pizza, watched a disturbing video and even went grocery shopping by himself. Kevin's biggest success was thwarting two burglars' attempt to steal from his home. Culkin reprised his role of Kevin McAllister in "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York".

Kate and Peter immediately woke up everyone and she asked the clerk at the airport if they missed their flight.

The clerk told them they just made it and let them board the plane. Midway through the flight, Kate told Peter that she felt like something was not right and that was when she realized Kevin was home alone.

When the McCallister's got to Paris, Kate called the Chicago Police Department and told them that Kevin was home alone and wanted the police to check on him. Kate flew to Dallas to try and get a flight back to Chicago but nothing was available.

A man named Gus Polinski overheard Kate's problem while in Scranton and told her he and his friends would be happy to drive her to Chicago, since they were going to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This only included the neighbors who were on vacation at the time. When the McCallister home lit up, Harry told Marv that was the one with all the goods they wanted.

In the middle of the movie, Marv and Harry argued while Harry was driving and he almost hit Kevin.
