It turns out it was a friend of Laura's that was killed in her apartment when Laura was away in the country. McPherson suspects Shelby Carpenter and Waldo Lydecker as possible murderers but has his work cut out trying to catch the perpetrator while at the same time, falling in love with Laura.

"Sweet Smell Of Success" is the story of the intimidating newspaper columnist J. J. Hunsecker, his overbearing protection of his sister Susan and the sleezy press agent Sidney Falco. "The List of Adrian Messenger" (1963), stars George C. Writer Adrian Messenger invites his old friend Anthony Gethryn (recently retired from MI5), to investigate a number of accidental deaths that he thinks are actually related murders. While en route to collect evidence for his suspicions, the plane Messengher is traveling in is bombed but with his dying breath he tells a fellow passenger his story. The passenger turns out to be Raoul Le Borg, Gethryn's old counterpart in the French Resistance during WWII. Le Borg and Gethryn join forces to solve the mystery.

"The Godfather" is the story of the rise of the Corleone crime family led by an Italian immigrant Vito Coleone, in New York. Tom Hagen is the consigliere and lawyer for the Corleone family. He has been unofficially adopted into the family but is of German-Irish ancestry not Italian. Being a logical and gentle person, he is the voice of reason within the family. The movie is also about the trials and tribulations of various members of the family and rivals to their power.

It is preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry of the Library of Congress and has been deemed culturally, historically or aesthetically significant. It is ranked by the American Film Institute as the second-greatest movie in American cinema, only "Citizen Kane" is ranked higher.

A joint mission between Russia and America is sent to Jupiter aboard the Russian spacecraft Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. It is commanded by Captain Tanya Kirbuk who is a Russian cosmonaut, her mission is to investigate what happened to the Discovery One mission to Jupiter in 2001. The Leonov crew find the Discovery One abandoned and adrift in orbit over the Jupiter moon Io. They also find the giant alien monolith that Discovery One was sent to investigate nine years earlier.

"2010: The Year We Make Contact" (1984) the movie was written, produced and directed by Peter Hyams and is the sequel to "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968). "2001: A Space Odyssey" was inspired by the short story "The Sentinel" and other short stories written by Arthur C. Clarke. The screenplay was written by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke and Kubrick directed the movie.

The movie is the sequel to the 1987 movie "Predator", starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is set in Los Angeles 10 years after the first movie. The predator kills members of warring Columbian and Jamacian drug cartels and law enforcement. It is then hunted down by Lt. Mike Harrigan who eventually kills it on an alien ship in an underground chamber. Other predators then appear and one of them presents Lt. Harrigan with an antique flintlock pistol as a trophy. The predators escape in their ship before further law enforcement arrive.

"The Shootist" (1990) stars John Wayne as J. B. Books, Lauren Bacall as Bond Rogers, James Stewart as Dr. E. W. Hostetler, Ron Howard as Gillom Rogers and Harry Morgan as town marshal Thibido. It is directed by Don Siegel.

Widow Bond Rogers runs a boarding house in Carson City, Nevada, USA. The year is 1901 and J. B. Books arrives to consult Dr. E. W. Hostetler. He takes a room with Mrs. Rogers but does not tell her his real name as he is a famed gunfighter and wants to remain anonymous. When she finds out, through her son Gillom, she wants him to leave but when Books explains about his serious illness she is sympathetic and changes her mind.

After two men try to kill Books in his room, Mrs. Rogers becomes concerned that she is losing boarders because of it and that her son Gillom is starting to hero worship Books.

Lauren Bacall was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Leading Actress for her role as Bond Rogers, and "The Shootist" was John Wayne's final movie.

During the investigation Morrison meets and gets involved with the gangster's wife Joyce Harwood played by Veronica Lake. Johnny Morrison dislikes her at the beginning but she takes his side against her husband and helps him to avoid the police ivestigation until he can prove his innocence.

"Mildred Pierce" is the story of divorced mother of two, Mildred Pierce, who bakes pies and cakes to support herself and her two daughters. She then takes a job as a waitress but her haughty daughter Veda, looks at her mother with shame when she finds out what she is doing for a living.

Eventually Mildred saves enough money to open her own restaurant and enters a loveless marriage with Monte Beragon. This improves her social status and Monte gets a share of her business. Monte then starts an affair with Veda who later shoots and kills him. Mildred takes the blame to protect Veda but the truth comes out in the end.
