Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Robin Williams

Answer: Mrs. Doubtfire

Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014) played the part of a man whose wife had left him and taken his three children. In order to spend more time with them without his wife knowing it, he dressed like a woman, called himself Mrs. Doubtfire, and got hired to be a babysitter to his own children.

While pretending to be Doubtfire, he also tried to stop his ex's romance with a British man.
2. Dustin Hoffman

Answer: Tootsie

Dustin Hoffman (August 8, 1937) played an actor who needed money to finance a play. When he couldn't get hired as himself, he dressed like a woman and got a job on a TV soap opera. Only his agent and his roommate (Bill Murray) knew who he really was. Things got complicated when he fell in love with an actress (Jessica Lange, Oscar winner for this part) on the soap opera, and an actor on the show fell in love with him, thinking he was a woman.
3. Sylvester Stallone

Answer: Nighthawks

Sylvester Stallone (July 6, 1946) played a policeman trying to catch a terrorist (Rutger Hauer). After several scenes of the terrorist murdering people, including the plastic surgeon who changed his face, the terrorist decided to get back at the policeman.

At the end of the movie, when the terrorist thought he would kill the policeman's wife, the policeman dressed as the wife and shot the terrorist.
4. John Candy

Answer: Armed and Dangerous

John Candy (October 31, 1950 - March 4 1994) found out the security guard company he worked for was owned by criminals. In one scene he had to hide from corrupt cops while in a sex paraphernalia shop. Frank (John Candy) and his fellow guard traded clothes with some people, resulting in Frank wearing a wig and female clothes. One of the guards (Meg Ryan) was the daughter of the man who had borrowed money from the mob to start the guard company.
5. Larry David

Answer: The Three Stooges

In 2012 a movie called "The Three Stooges" came out, loosely based on the slapstick humor of the comedy team The Three Stooges. This time the stooges were played by Sean Hayes (Larry), Will Sasso (Curly), and Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe). The story in the movie showed them as children and then adults growing up in a catholic orphanage.

They got yelled at by Sister Mary Mengele, played by Larry David (July 2, 1947, "Curb Your Enthusiasm") dressed as a nun.
6. Robert Preston

Answer: Victor/Victoria

"Victor/Victoria" was a remake of the German film "Viktor Und Viktoria" in which a woman (Julie Andrews) was pretending to be a man in drag. When she had an affair with a gangster, which made everyone think the gangster was gay, someone tried to show everyone that she was really a woman.

Her friend (Robert Preston, June 8, 1918 - March 21, 1987) took her place on stage, because he really was a man dressed as a woman.
7. Ed Wood

Answer: Glen or Glenda

Director Ed Wood (October 10, 1924 - December 10, 1978) made a movie about transvestites. Ed Wood sometimes appeared in the movie in women's clothing because he didn't like wearing a suit and tie, which men were forced to wear all the time, according to the movie. "Glen or Glenda" also discussed someone's sex change. Famous for making "bad" movies, including "Plan 9 From Outer Space", Ed Wood became friends with Bela Lugosi (October 20, 1882 - August 16, 1956) who "hosted" the movie "Glen or Glenda".
8. Christopher Plummer

Answer: The Silent Partner

A bank robber (Christopher "The Sound of Music" Plummer, December 13, 1929) returned to the same bank he had previously robbed. The movie had shown him viciously murder people. This time he was dressed as a woman. He expected the bank teller (Elliott Gould) to again give him money from the bank, but this time the bank teller shouted that he was being robbed.

The criminal shot the bank teller, but then the criminal was shot, who weakly walked up the down escalator until he passed out and came back down.

This was really a strange combination of tragic and funny. He was shot and dying, but there he was wearing a dress, lying on the escalator as it brought him down.
9. Gene Hackman

Answer: The Birdcage

A politician (Gene "The French Connection" Hackman, January 30, 1930) was being hounded by reporters because of a political scandal. He was visiting his daughter's boyfriend's family at a drag club, which the family owned, when he noticed paparazzi outside, so he disguised himself as a woman. That way he could leave without the paparazzi knowing who he was. "The Birdcage" was a remake of the 1978 Franco-Italian film "La Cage Aux Folles".
10. Johnny Depp

Answer: Ed Wood

Director Ed Wood, who liked to wear women's clothing, was the subject of the movie "Ed Wood". The movie showed Ed (Johnny "Pirates of the Caribbean" Depp, June 9, 1963) becoming friends with Bela Lugosi, played by Martin Landau (June 20, 1928 - July 15, 2017), who won an Oscar for the part.

The movie also explained how Ed directed, sometimes in drag, the movies "Glen or Glenda", "Bride of the Monster", and "Plan 9 From Outer Space".
