Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the first album Air Supply released?

Answer: "Air Supply"

"Lost In Love" was the duo's first US release, but it was their fifth Album overall. "Air Supply" was released in 1976. (Not to be confused with "Air Supply" released in 1985.) If you are about to send a correction notice because the liner notes of "The Definitive Collection" say that "Love And Other Bruises" was Air Supply's debut, first check the official discography at www.airsupplymusic.com.

There was actually a 1976 release. The statement in the liner notes for "Definitive Collection" is erroneous.
2. Which studio album did "Lost In Love" first appear on?

Answer: "Life Support"

"Lost In Love" first appeared on the 1979 Aussie release "Life Support". It later appeared on "Lost In Love", "Greatest Hits", "Making Love...", "Now And Forever - Greatest Hits Live", "The Definitive Collection", "Air Supply - Forever Love" as well as a US release of "Life Support". "Lost In Love" DID NOT appear on "Love And Other Bruises" - Another error in the liner notes of "The Definitive Collection".
3. Which of the following is NOT an Air Supply album?

Answer: "All Out Of Love"

"All Out Of Love" is a song on the 1980 "Lost In Love Album". "The Earth Is..." was Air Supply's 1991 album, which was followed by "The Vanishing Race" in 1993. "Across The Concrete Sky" was the duo's long-awaited 2003 studio album.

Answer: "well at least I had last night"

From one of Air Supply's better, yet lesser known, songs: "I'll Never Get Enough Of You".
17. Name The Album "Hope Springs Eternal" appears on.

Answer: Hearts In Motion

"Hearts In Motion" went virtually unnoticed in 1986, peaking at #84 on the album charts. This, following the vaunted 1985 "Air Supply" album, which boasted the top 20 hit "Just As I Am". Musically, "Hearts" was a far superior album. Many avid fans, myself included, believe it to be Air Supply's most masterful work to date.
18. May 22, 2003 marked the release of Air Supply's studio album "Accross The Concrete Sky". To that point, what was Air Supply's last top 40 hit in the United States?

Answer: "Just As I Am" - 1985

"Just As I Am" hit #19 in '85, and is from the "Air Supply" album. "Without You" from "The Earth Is..." and "Goodbye" from "The Vanishing Race" both made it to #48, and "News From Nowhere"'s "Someone" climbed to #50. All were close, but no cigar!
19. From 1980 to 1983 how many hits did Air Supply have make the top 5 on the American charts?

Answer: 8

Air Supply boasts an incredible eight top 5 hits. This is a feat that has been accomplished by very few artists. In fact, during that period Air Supply released only ten singles, eight of which, went top 5! (All 10 singles went top 40!)
20. When the single "Even The Nights Are Better" was released, Air Supply joined the Beatles and Madonna as the only acts in history to that point to do what?

Answer: Have seven consecutive singles make the top 5 on the American charts

Although "Making Love" was Air Supply's eighth top 5 single, the string had been broken as "Young Love" and "Two Less Lonely People In The World" had both charted at #38.
21. "Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All)" reached #2 on the American Charts. What was Ironic about the song that stopped it from reaching #1?

Answer: It was written by the same person who wrote "Making Love"

Bonnie Tyler was in the top spot with "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". "Total Eclipse" and "Making Love" were both written by Jim Steinman.
22. Air Supply had huge success on the American charts in the early eighties. How many songs did Air Supply have make it to number one?

Answer: 1

"The One That You Love" was the only song to make it to #1 on the American charts surpassing even such huge, hit classics as "Lost In Love", and "Making Love".
23. Before their American debut, Air Supply had an affinity for naming albums for songs from previous albums, rather than making a new title track.

Answer: True

A very clever marketing strategy actually. In 1976 "Love And Other Bruises" appeared on the Rainbow Records release: "Air Supply". In 1977 it became the title track of their second album which was released on Sony Music Entertainment. The song eventually reached #2 on the Aussie charts. 1977 also saw the release of "The Whole Thing Started" on Epic Sony.

Interestngly, the song "That's How The Whole Thing Started" appeared on "Love And Other Bruises", but not "The Whole Thing Started". In '78 the group recorded the "Life Support" album, which was released in 1979. From this album sprang "Lost In Love", which would become the title track for Air Supply's American and international debut on EMI Music Group in 1980. "Lost In Love" saw #1 on the Aussie charts, but only made it to #3 in America.
24. Finish this lyric from "Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All)": "I can make tonight forever; _____________"

Answer: "Or I can make it disappear by the dawn"

This was the only song on the "Greatest Hits" album never to appear on any previous studio album.
25. In June, 2003 Air Supply released a compilation album entitled "Air Supply - Forever Love". Including Aussie releases, how many studio albums had Air Supply released prior to then?

Answer: 16

"Air Supply" 1976; "Love And Other Bruises" 1977; "The Whole Thing Started" 1977; "Life Support" 1979; "Lost In Love" 1980; "The One That You Love" 1981; "Now And Forever" 1982; "Air Supply" 1985; "Hearts In Motion" 1986; "The Christamas Album" 1987; "The Earth Is..." 1991; "The Vanishing Race" 1993; "News From Nowhere" 1995; "The Book Of Love" 1997; "Yours Truly" 2001; "Accross The Concrete Sky" 2003.
