2. What was the #9 hit of the year 1978? "To touch you, to hold you, To feel you, to need you, There's nothing to keep us apart. You're once, twice, Three times a lady, And I love you."

Answer: Three Times a Lady

The Commodores started singing together when they all attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. They signed with Motown after opening for the Jackson Five in 1971, but really didn't hit stride until 1977, when they had number one hits with "Easy", "Brick House", and then "Three Times a Lady" in 1978.
3. What was the #8 hit of 1978? "Love is higher than a mountain. Love is thicker than water. You are this dreamer's only dream, Heaven's angel, devil's daughter."

Answer: (Love Is) Thicker Than Water

Born in Manchester, England on March 5, 1958, Andy Gibb was the younger brother of the famous singing group the Bee Gees. This was his second number one hit, which he co-wrote with his brother Barry.
His star rose rapidly in the 70s, but fell just as quickly in the 80s, when he only managed to stay in the public eye by hosting the dance show "Solid Gold", and making guest appearances on television sitcoms.
4. What was the #7 hit of the year 1978? "Baby come back, any kind of fool could see, There was something in everything about you. Baby come back, you can blame it all on me, I was wrong, and I just can't live without you."

Answer: Baby Come Back

Peter Beckett and John Charles Crowley, founding members of Player, met when they attended the same Hollywood party and were the only two people in the room not wearing white. Ron Moss, John Friesden and Wayne Cook would join the group before they had their first (and only) number one hit with "Baby Come Back".
5. What was the #6 hit from the year 1978? "How deep is your love? (How deep is your love?) I really need to learn, 'Cause we're living in a world of fools, Breaking us down, When they all should let us be, We belong to you and me."

Answer: How Deep Is Your Love

The soundtrack for the movie "Saturday Night Fever" (starring John Travolta) won 7 Grammys and was number one on the U.S. album charts for an amazing 24 weeks. Seven of the cuts on that album were written and performed by the Bee Gees.
6. What was the #5 hit of the year 1978? "I wanna kiss you all over, And over again. I wanna kiss you all over, 'Til the night closes in, 'Til the night closes in."

Answer: Kiss You All Over

Written by Mike Chapman, "Kiss You All Over" was on the top forty charts for nearly six months, holding the number one spot for 4 weeks. The name Exile was chosen by the band because of the way they were treated by the people of their home town when they first started playing together in 1963.

The conservative town in Kentucky that they hailed from did not warm quickly to their appearance and music, and the band members often felt that they were being treated as exiles.
7. What was the #4 hit for the year 1978? "Here I am, Prayin' for this moment to last, Livin' on the music so fine, Borne on the wind, Makin' it mine. Night fever, night fever. We know how to do it."

Answer: Night Fever

Also from the soundtrack for "Saturday Night Fever", "Night Fever" was another huge hit for the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees have charted number one hits around the world in every decade from the 60s to the 90s. Their songs have been covered by over a thousand other artists, including Elvis, Janis Joplin and Barbra Streisand.
8. What was the #3 hit for the year 1978? "So many dreams I kept deep inside me, Alone in the dark, but now you've come along. You light up my life, You give me hope, To carry on. You light up my days, And fill my nights with song."

Answer: You Light Up My Life

Christian singer Debby Boone was the third of four daughters born to singer Pat Boone and his wife. Written by Joseph Brooks, "You Light Up My Life" was her first single, which won her the Grammy for Best New Artist.
9. What was the #2 hit for the year 1978? "Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk. Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around, Since I was born."

Answer: Stayin' Alive

This is the third hit for the Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees) from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. The other four Bee Gee written songs on the album are "If I Can't Have You", "More Than a Woman", "You Should Be Dancing" and "Jive Talkin'".
10. What was the #1 hit for the year 1978? "Do it light, taking me through the night, Shadow dancing, baby you do it right. Give me more, drag me across the floor, Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more."

Answer: Shadow Dancing

With writing credit going to all four Gibb brothers, "Shadow Dancing" was a huge hit for Andy. It wasn't too long after this that things started to go flat for him, and he developed a dependency on cocaine at this time. Andy died on March 10, 1988, at the age of 30, due to a heart condition.

The reason for the heart condition remains a matter of great debate, some claiming that it was the result of a viral infection, while others claim that it was caused by his cocaine habit.
