Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When was the album "Back in Black" released?

Answer: 1980

Answer: Greater than 20 million in US sales

"Back in Black" has sold approximately 22 million copies since it's release in 1980. This ranks the album right up there with The Eagles ("Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975) which has sold approximately 29 million copies, Michael Jackson ("Thriller") which has also sold 29 million copies, Led Zeppelin ("Led Zeppelin IV") which has sold approximately 23 million copies and Pink Floyd ("The Wall") which has also sold approximately 23 million copies. As far as worldwide sales go, "Back in Black" has sold a total of 49 million copies, ranking it second, only behind "Thriller" which has sold in excess of 110 million copies.
4. Which song from "Back in Black" made it to the US Billboard Top 100 in the year of its release?

Answer: You Shook Me All Night Long

"You Shook Me All Night Long" made it to number 35 of the top 100 tracks of the year 1980. In 1981, three other tracks made it to the Billboard Top 100. These were: "Back in Black", "Hell's Bells" and "Shoot to Thrill".
Another track which did well in 1980 was "Rock 'n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution", which made it to number 15 on the UK Singles Chart.

Answer: 4

The singles are:
"Hell's Bells"

"Shoot to Thrill"

"Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" was released in the United Kingdom, but never officially released in the USA as a single.
6. Where was "Back in Black" recorded?

Answer: In The Bahamas and New York City

It was recorded at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamian capital of Nassau. There was also some recording work done at Electric Ladyland Studios in New York City. It was quite a shock for the new singer to know that he was leaving off to Bahamas just after a few days in his new band.
7. Who was the singer on the "Back in Black" album?

Answer: False

All of the songs on "Back in Black" were written by Angus and Malcolm Young along with additional credits by Brian Johnson.
9. Which song from "Back in Black" features the sound of a cigarette being lit and then smoked in the early seconds of the song?

It has long been suspected that it was the new singer, Brian Jonson, who was caught on tape lighting up and smoking his cigarette at the beginning of the song.

Answer: Gin

The lyrics start with:
"Oh, whiskey, gin and brandy"...
