Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the original singer for the band?

Answer: Dave Evans

Very few people have heard of this guy, I didn't til recently. Apparently, Dave didn't have the right persona to represent the type of music they played.
2. What country were the Youngs originally from?

Answer: Scotland

They were born in Scotland, then later moved to Australia, where the band hit it big. Does anyone know if they still live there, or back in the UK? I'm assuming it's the latter...
3. "She gave me the Jack" - In "The Jack", what is Bon REALLY talking about getting?

Answer: A sexually transmitted disease

The Jack is slang for gonorrhea. The original lyrics from the studio album weren't as blatant as what Bon sang on the live album. But were quite clever, in my opinion.
4. All of the following are titles to AC/DC tunes: "Little Lover" Bad Boy Boogie" "Can I Sit Next to You Girl" "What's Next to the Moon"

Answer: True

If you didn't recognize ANY of these, this quiz was probably too hard for you.
5. What was the title of the band's first live album?

Answer: If You Want Blood

What a great album! The opening riffs to 'Riff Raff' are awesome. The album cover is pretty cool too, showing Angus getting his guitar shoved through his stomach.
6. The songs, 'Gone Shooting', 'Down Payment Blues', and 'Kicked in the Teeth' are on which album?

Answer: Powerage

Other standout songs on this album include "Riff Raff" and "Sin City."
7. What kind of guitar does Angus Young play in concert?

Answer: Gibson SG

Been playing an 'SG as for as long as I can tell! Sure it sounds good, but I wonder if he also likes it because the double cutaways look like horns....?
8. Which tune off of 'High Voltage' has the guys saying, 'Oi, Oi, Oi,' as backing vocals?

Answer: TNT

Where the heck does 'Oi' come from?! Must be an Australian thing.
9. The guy who produced the band's first few albums had what previous connection to the band?

Answer: Was Angus and Malcolm's brother

George Young was in an Australian band called The Easybeats, who had a hit tune called, 'Friday on My Mind.' His being a musician helped Angus and Malcolm follow the same path.
10. The songs, 'Girls Got Rhythm," "Night Prowler," and "Touch Too Much,' are on what album?

Answer: Highway to Hell

My all-time favorite AC/DC album! It's a shame that Bon died, who knows how good the next album would've been with him...
11. What's the significance of the name 'Geordie'?

Answer: Brian Johnson's previous band

Brian was named lead singer within a few months of Bon's tragic death. What a screamer! I'm still baffled how Brian can actually produce those throat-shredding sounds night after night. According to one source (www.ac-dc.net) GEORDIE once toured in the UK with an opening band called FRATERNITY, whose lead singer at the time was...Bon Scott!
12. What is the unusual (for AC/DC) instrument found on 'It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)'?

Answer: bagpipes

I believe Bon Scott played them. The Youngs and Bon were of Scottish descent.
13. Which early '80s AC/DC song features the sound of cannon-fire?

Answer: For Those About to Rock

Fire! Pretty loud in concert, with smoke rings floating over the audience.
14. Which band member is the oldest?

Answer: Brian Johnson

Brian was born in 1947
Cliff Williams in '49
Malcolm in '53
Phil in '54
and "baby" Angus in '55 or '59, depending on which source you believe.
15. Which of the following about Bon Scott is FALSE?

Answer: He died from a car crash

He died after a night of heavy drinking. He did drive into something, but that didn't kill him. The rest of the stuff, believe it or not, is true.
16. AC/DC never released a slow song on an album.

Answer: false

I said slow song, not ballad. "Little Lover, The Jack, Night Prowler, and Ride On" were a few of their slow songs. Apparently, they did release a ballad called "Love Song" on the Australian version of the High Voltage album.
17. Which of these albums debuted the controversial song "Big Balls"?

Answer: Dirty Deeds

Only a couple area radio stations would play it. AC/DC was never known for their ability to be SUBTLE.
18. What distinction did 'Back in Black' gain after its release?

Answer: Biggest selling Heavy Metal album ever

T E N M I L L I O N sold at that time. That's a lotta vinyl. P.S. As of December 2002, the 'Back in Black' album has sold over FORTY million copies.
19. Who was the producer for 'Highway to Hell', 'Back in Black', and 'For Those About to Rock'?

Answer: Robert 'Mutt' Lange

Mutt kicked butt on 'Highway' especially. Mutt has produced a LOT of huge-selling albums, including some with Def Leppard, Foreigner, and The Cars. He recently produced the hit album of, and married Shania Twain. Lucky man!
20. What are the very last words you hear Bon Scott speaking on the last song of the last album he ever recorded?

Answer: Shazbot. Nanu Nanu.

It's at the end of 'Night Prowler.' I guess he was a fan of the TV sitcom, 'Mork and Mindy,' which was popular at the time. Rock on, Bon.
