Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. First line on the album: Where did the speaker in "Back in the USSR" just fly in from? ("Flew in from________ BOAC...."

Answer: Miami Beach

The BOAC is the British Overseas Airways Corporation.
2. What's Desmond and Molly's last name in "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da"?

Answer: Jones

I first heard this song on the 80s TV show "Life Goes On" about the family of a young man with Downs Syndrome.
3. What's the line in "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" that is said by John Lennon, followed by different voices (right before the chorus)?

Answer: All the Children Sing...

This song is actually a true story....his name was Richard A. Cooke III, and he really did shoot a tiger while hunting with his mother...
4. "I look at you all, see the love there that's ________".

Answer: sleeping

George wrote this based on the first lines of a book that he picked off the shelf: "gently weeps".
5. What did "the man in the crowd with the multicolored mirror on his hobnail boots" eat and donate to the National Trust in "Happiness is a Warm Gun"?

Answer: a soap impression of his wife

John was in fact parodying the US gun lobby, not sympathizing with it.
6. Piggies: "...clutching forks and knives to ________"?

Answer: eat their bacon

George only intended this song as humorous social commentary. It's quite a shame that it took on such negative connotations.
7. Why couldn't Ringo's date in "Don't Pass Me By" come to his house?

Answer: She was in a car crash and lost her hair

How does one lose one's hair in a car crash? Ringo actually wrote this in 1964, but it wasn't recorded until here in '68.
8. What's the only thing Paul can think of to convince whoever it is to "do it in the road"?

Answer: No one will be watching them

Yes, this is Paul's song, albeit written in John's style.
9. The deeper you go, the __________ (Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except For Me and My Monkey)?

Answer: higher you fly

Written by John about his relationship with Yoko. Take it easy...this public service announcement brought to you by the Beatles...
10. Is this the line from Helter Skelter? "Tell me, tell, me tell me the answer, you may not be a lover but you're sure a dancer"?

Answer: No

Great song, and by the way, the lyrics are about an amusement park ride , not murder, despite the use of the words "helter skelter" in the Charles Mansion kllings. The line is 'Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer, you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer'.
