Answer: Gale Storm

Originally recorded by Bonnie Guitar then almost immediately covered by Gale Storm, "Dark Moon" quickly rose up the charts peaking at number four. The song was written by Ned Miller who in fact played guitar on Bonnie Guitar's version. The chart performance of both versions was similar - Bonnie Guitar reached number six and Gale Storm Number four on the Billboard Top 100. Ned Miller had his own piece of glory as a performer, when in 1962 he had a top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 with "From A Jack to A King".
2. "Paint it Black"

Answer: The Rolling Stones

"Paint it Black" gave the Rolling Stones their third number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The recording was a number one in the UK and top five in Australia.
3. "One Night"

Answer: Elvis Presley

Originally recorded in 1956 by Smiley Lewis, "One Night" was a top twenty hit on the R & B Charts. Released by Elvis in 1958 with slightly less risqué lyrics, "One Night" backed with "I Got Stung" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one in the UK and many other countries.

Los Bravos hailed from Madrid in Spain and topped the charts in Europe in 1966 with "Black is Black". The record made the top five in Australia, UK and the USA. Los Bravos are considered a 'one hit wonder' in the USA as they did not chart again after their top ten with "Black is Black".

"Night" was a top ten hit for Jackie Wilson in 1960. The song reached number three on the Billboard hot 100 and made number ten in Australia. In 1964 as Beatlemania was taking hold of the world, The Beatles released their first movie "A Hard Day's Night". The title song from the movie was a number one worldwide hit. The subsequent soundtrack album featuring the title track was also a number one and a multi platinum seller. Worldwide sales of the single "A Hard Days Night" are estimated at nine million.
7. "Three Nights a Week"

"Three nights a week, you're gone, three nights a week, that's too long,
you know you're doing me wrong, baby won't you please stay home", laments Fats Domino in his 1960 release of "Three Nights a Week". The record made the top twenty on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top ten in Australia during 1960. Between 1955 and 1968 Fats placed over 65 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
8. "Black Slacks"

Answer: Sparkletones

"Black Slacks" was written by Joe Bennett and Jimmy Denton and recorded by The Sparkletones, shown on some records as Joe Bennett & the Sparkletones. It reached number seventeen on the Billboard pop chart in 1957. The Sparkletones released a few more singles after "Black Slacks" with no chart success. "Black Slacks" is now considered a Rock 'n' Roll classic.
