Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Necrophagia spewed forth some truly sickening early death metal. Their first demo in 1984 was called "Death Is Fun". It contained four songs. Which of these songs was NOT on the demo?

Answer: Rise From the Crypt

"Rise From the Crypt" appeared on Necrophagia's 1985 rehearsal tape. These two tapes were later re-released along with other rare material on the "Legacy of Horror Gore and Sickness" CD and the box set.
2. This band has been around since 1987 with their first demo "Ritual of Darkness", yet didn't release their first full length CD until 2000. Name them.

Answer: Nunslaughter

Nunslaughter has released over 40 EPs, splits, live albums and two other full length releases since "Hells Unholy Fire" in 2000.
3. This band from Milwaukee only released one cd, which was produced by Eric Greif.

Answer: Accidental Suicide

"Deceased" was their only full length record. It was released in 1992 and produced by Greif, who was also Death's manager.
4. Necroharmonic released a cd compilation of this band called "Grotesque Wedlock." Who was it?

Answer: Dr. Shrinker

"Grotesque Wedlock" contains the 3 demos that Dr. Shrinker made in their existence from 1987 - 1991. After they disbanded some members went on to form the band Phantasm.
5. Ken Sorvari played bass on Autopsy's "Severed Survival"

Answer: False

Playing bass for Autopsy seems to have little job security - from the band's formation in 1987 to their breakup in 1995, five players have held the bassist position. Session player Steve DiGiorgio played on "Severed Survival" and "Fiend For Blood", but was never a member of the band.
6. This band came from Seattle and released "To The Depths...In Degredation" in 1994 then vanished. What band was it?

Answer: Infester

"To The Depths..In Degredation" was released by Moribund Records. There was a bit of controversy with the band and possible relations to a Nazi/Racist stance, however the cd remains one of the darkest and most demented sounding early death metal releases around.
7. This band's debut album came out in 1990, and featured John Tardy doing backing vocals on the track "Die Die".

Answer: Cancer

Cancer's "To The Gory End" CD. was produced by Scott Burns and the cover art was sufficiently graphic and shocking that some copies of the cd just say Cancer on the cover without the artwork.
8. In 2009, Peaveville Records re-released Autopsy's "Severed Survival" to celebrate 20 years since it was first released. Autopsy reunited and recorded 2 new songs. Which of these was a new song?

Answer: Horrific Obsession

The other new song was called "Feast of the Graveworm". The 20 year release features 2 disks with live songs and rehersals.
9. This New York band started out with a different name and later became known as Banished. What were they first known as?

Answer: Baphomet

Under the name of Baphomet they released "The Dead Shall Inherit" in 1992. They changed their name shortly after due to another band out of Germany called Baphomet.
10. What was the first demo released by Vital Remains in 1989 called?

Answer: Reduced To Ashes

Tony Lazaro (guitars) has been the only constant member of Vital Remains since their inception in 1988.
