Greatest Albums #2 Trivia Quiz

This is my second quiz on matching of an album title with an artist. And just like last time, these will cover from the popular to the obscure, so it may be slightly challenging. All of these albums were released in the 1990s and 2000s.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" - 2001

Answer: Dashboard Confessional

Chris Carraba was the lead singer of Further Seems Forever before he started his solo outfit, Dashboard Confessional. He won the MTV2 Award (for up and coming artists) at the 2002 Video Music Awards, even beating Norah Jones.
2. "Stunt" - 1998

Answer: Barenaked Ladies

This album opens with "One Week", which became a huge single for the Canadian band that consists of fully-clothed males. The album debuted on #3 on the Billboard charts.
3. "All That You Can't Leave Behind" - 2000

Answer: U2

After releasing material that emphasized dance grooves, U2's release went back to the roots that made them a great band. They won Record of the Year twice in a row for two singles released from "All That You Can't Leave Behind": "Beautiful Day" and "Walk On".
4. Which artist released "Bleed American" in 2001 before changing the album title after the 9-11 attacks?

Answer: Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World's release became self-titled after their original album title became insensitive after September 11, 2001.
5. "Whatever and Ever Amen" - 1997

Answer: Ben Folds Five

The three-member piano-driven BFF had a minor hit with "Brick". Ben Folds released "Rockin the Suburbs" after the group's demise.
6. "Misguided Roses" - 1997

Answer: Edwin McCain

This album had the hit "I'll Be". It's not common knowledge that Edwin McCain is also the name of the entire band, not just the singer. That is why the band now performs under the name the Edwin McCain Band (so the band, not the singer, is the proper focus).
7. "The Young and the Hopeless" - 2002

Answer: Good Charlotte

The leaders of this punk-pop outfit are brothers, Joel and Benji. This album features "Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous".
8. Complete this title of the album released in 2000: "Mad Season by..."

Answer: Matchbox Twenty

The name of the Rob Thomas-led group was changed from Matchbox 20 to Matchbox Twenty before the release of "mad season". Are they trying to make a statement?
9. "Step Up to the Microphone" - 1998

Answer: Newsboys

This Christian Aussie group had earlier hits with "Reality", "Breakfast", and "Shine".
10. "Tell All Your Friends" - 2002

Answer: Taking Back Sunday

This emo group has very pecuilar names for the songs on this CD, such as "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team)", "Timberwolves at New Jersey", and "Great Romances of the 20th Century".
11. "Monster" - 1994

Answer: R.E.M.

This album is different from most other R.E.M. albums in that it had harder rock and more hi-tech stuff.
12. "In Utero" - 1993

Answer: Nirvana

Nirvana's last album before the self-destruction of lead singer Kurt Cobain, it included "Heart-Shaped Box".
13. "Come Away With Me" - 2002

Answer: Norah Jones

"Come Away from Me" gave Norah and her collaborators eight Grammys. She beat Eminem and Bruce, among others, in the Best Album category and outlasted Avril in the New Artist award.
14. "No Need to Argue" - 1994

Answer: The Cranberries

"Zombie" is the most recognizable track from this album from arguably the best Irish artist since U2.
15. "Grace" - 1994

Answer: Jeff Buckley

Sadly, this was the only full-length album from the son of Tim Buckley. He drowned in the Mississippi three years after the release of "Grace". Jeff's haunting cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" became a theme at the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
