Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song are these lyrics from? "When you live in a cookie cutter world, being different is a sin".

Answer: Weird

Lyrics:
"Sitting on the side, waiting for a sign, hoping that my luck will change.
Ohh, reaching for a hand that will understand, someone who feels the same.
When you live in a cookie cutter world, being different is a sin.
So you don't stand out and you don't fit in. Weird."

"Middle of Nowhere" was Hanson's first major-label album. It was produced by the Dust Brothers and Stephen Lironi.
2. Fill in the missing word from "Yearbook". "There's a lying in your silence. Tell me where did ________ go?"

Answer: Johnny

Lyrics from "Yearbook":

"Tell me where did he go? I wanna know.
Where did Johnny go?
It says 'picture unavailable' right here.
More than sad, it makes me mad to know somebody knows.
There's a lying in your silence. Tell me where did Johnny go!"

Hanson never performed this song live in front of an audience until their ten-year anniversary in May 2007. They recorded a live performance for the "Middle of Nowhere" Acoustic" album.
3. What song has this line? "I've been trying to call you all day, 'cause I got so many things that I want to say".

Answer: A Minute Without You

"A Minute Without You" lyrics:
"I've been trying to call you all day
'Cause I got so many things that I want to say.
Ohh, yeah. I'm going crazy 'cause all my thoughts are filled with you.
There's got to be some way I can get through to you, ohh."

This song is one of the only songs to have lead vocals from someone other than Taylor. It was sung predominantly by Isaac.
4. What song are these lyrics from? "When you get old and start losing your hair, can you tell me who will still care?"

Answer: MMMBop

Lyrics:
"You have so many relationships in this life.
Only one or two will last.
You're going through all this pain and strife.
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast. Oh yeah.
And they're gone so fast. Yeah.
Oh, so hold on to the ones who really care.
In the end, they'll be the only ones there.
When you get old and start losing your hair
Can you tell me who will still care?
Can you tell me who will still care?"

This is the song that started it all. It appeared twice as a ballad on Hanson's second independent album "MMMBop" (1996) and then received a pop makeover for the "Middle of Nowhere" album released a year later in 1997.
5. What is the missing line? "Oh my Madeline, here we go around again. You know it, I know it. _____"

Answer: Don't try to pretend

Lyrics from "Madeline":

"Oh, oh, oh my Madeline, here we go around again.
You know it, I know it. Don't try to pretend.
You know it could be so much better than it's been.
Ah ooooh, here we go around again."

"Middle of Nowhere" reached number two on the US Billboard 200 charts. It was Hanson's highest-charting major-label album by 2010.
6. Pick the song with this lyric: "We're trippin' all over ourselves and pullin' each other down".

Answer: Where's the Love

Lyrics:

"Can you tell me what you see whenever you look around?
('Round, 'round, 'round.)
We're trippin' all over ourselves and pullin' each other down.
Oh we're separating. Consciousness is fading.
Are you thinking that it's me you're fooling?
Where's the right in, all of our fighting?
Look at, look at, look at what we're doing."

This was the second single released from "Middle of Nowhere". It peaked at number six on the US Billboard Top 40 Mainstream chart.
7. What are missing words? "Have you ever stood outside a ____? You could see through, but you can't get to the inside".

Answer: picket fence

Lyrics from "Thinking of You":

"Have you ever stood outside a picket fence?
You could see through, but you can't get to the inside.
Ohh, you sit there and wait.
I look at you and anticipate what we could be and what we could do".

This song was the last single released from the album. However, it was only released internationally (not in the United States). It came out in July of 1998.
8. What is the missing lyric? "It started at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere. Sitting beside me was a ____".

Answer: man with no hair

Lyrics from "Man from Milwaukee":

"It started at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere.
Sitting beside me was a man with no hair.
From the look on his face to the size of his toes
He comes from a place that nobody knows".

This was a bonus track. It has continually been a crowd favorite based on the carefree/silly lyrics and the use of a megaphone. It is also the only song on the album to use the album title in the lyrics.
9. What song are these lyrics from? "I didn't realize that I felt this way, until that day".

Answer: Lucy

Lyrics:
"Now I don't have anymore songs to sing
'Cause you were everything, everything to me.
I didn't realize that I felt this way, until that day".

This song was one of the only songs to have lead vocals from someone other than Taylor. It was sung predominantly by Zac. The song was written by Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson, Zachary Hanson, and Mark Hudson.
10. Choose the song with these lyrics: "I don't want you to cry and weep. I want you to go on living your life".

Answer: With You in Your Dreams

Lyrics:

"I don't want you to cry and weep (whoa-oh).
I want you to go on living your life.
And I'm not sleeping an endless sleep(whoa-oh).
'Cause in your heart, you have all of our good times.
All of our good times".

"Middle of Nowhere" was released on May 6, 1997. That date since been declared "Hanson Day" in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
