Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "It's so easy to blow up your problems. It's so easy to play up your breakdown. It's so easy to fly through a window. It's so easy to fool with the sound."

Answer: The Cars

"Moving in Stereo", from the Cars' debut, self-titled album. Other classics off this one include "My Best Friend's Girl", "Just What I Needed", "Good Times Roll", and "All Mixed Up".
2. "French girls, they want Cartier. Italian girls want cars. American girls want everything in the world you can possibly imagine."

Answer: Rolling Stones

"Some Girls", off of the album of the same name, originally released in 1978. This song has never gotten the airplay it deserved because of one off-color word in the lyrics (I'm sure you can guess which one). However, compared with many of the hip-hop songs of today, this Stones gem is tame... not to mention, a million times better.
3. "His rival, it seems, had broken his dreams by stealing the girl of his fancy. Her name was Magill and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy."

Answer: The Beatles

"Rocky Raccoon", from the Beatles' "White Album", originally released in 1968. Actually the Beatles' self-titled album (it got the nickname of "White Album" because of its entirely white background), this album is one of their best. It's a double album chock full of obscure yet classic tunes such as "Glass Onion", "Blackbird, "Happiness is a Warm Gun", and "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill".
4. "Well, you were my favorite DJ since I can't remember when. You always played the best records, you never followed any trend."

Answer: The Kinks

"Around the Dial", off of the Kinks' outstanding 1981 release, "Give the People What They Want". One of their best.
5. "We're doing allright, a little jiving on a Saturday night. Come what may, gonna dance the day away."

Answer: Sniff 'n' The Tears

"Driver's Seat". A one-hit wonder off of their debut 1978 album "Fickle Heart". A most excellent tune.
6. "Take away my inhibitions, take away my solitude. Fire me up with your resistance. Put me in the mood."

Answer: Bob Seger

"Till It Shines", from "Stranger in Town", originally released in 1978. Detroit rules!
7. "Come down with fire, lift my spirit higher. Someone's screaming my name. Come and make me holy again."

Answer: Rainbow

"Man on the Silver Mountain", from Rainbow's self-titled debut album, released in 1975, with Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals. Dio and Ritchie Blackmore also wrote seven of the album's nine songs together.
8. "'Cause lonely is only a place, you don't know what it's like. You can't fight it. It's a hole in my heart, in my heart."

Answer: Cheap Trick

"If You Want My Love", off of Cheap Trick's 1982 release "One on One". Here's a band with a lot of great tunes you rarely hear on the radio. Cheap Trick consists of Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Bun E. Carlos. One of the top 25 bands of all time.
9. "And the big wheel keep on turning, neon burning up above. And I'm just high on the world. Come on and take a low ride with me, girl, on the tunnel of love."

Answer: Dire Straits

"Tunnel of Love", from the 1980 classic Dire Straits release, "Making Movies". This song showcases some of Mark Knopfler's incredible guitar playing, and this album established the band as true superstars. A must for any CD collection.
10. "Down in the graveyard where we have our tryst, the air smells sweet, the air smells sick. He never smiles, his mouth merely twists. The breath in my lungs is clinging and thick."

Answer: Rolling Stones

"Dancing with Mr. D.", off of the Stones' 1973 release "Goat's Head Soup". A tender little ditty about the Grim Reaper himself.
11. "Then you gazed up at me, and the answer was plain to see. 'Cause I saw the light in your eyes."

Answer: Todd Rundgren

"I Saw The Light", off of "Something/Anything?", originally released in 1972. Born and bred in the Philadelphia area, Todd began his career with The Nazz before going solo. He now lives in Hawaii and tours almost constantly.
12. "We rented a truck and a semi to go travel down the long and winding road. Look on the map, I think we've been here before. Close the doors, let's roll once more."

Answer: Bachman-Turner Overdrive

"Roll on Down the Highway", off of the album "Not Fragile", originally released in 1974. One of the bruising, heavy guitar bands to come out of Canada in the early 1970's, along with Rush, Triumph, and the like, BTO originally consisted of brothers Randy, Robbie and Tim Bachman, and guitarist C.F. "Fred" Turner.
13. "What a sweet talkin' honey with a little bit of money. She'll turn your head around. Creature from the sea with the looks to me like she like to fool around."

Answer: The Kinks

"Death of a Clown", from the classic Kinks' album "Something Else", originally released in 1967, and a must-have for the true Kinks fan. Dave Davies sings this one and does a most excellent job. I'm still waiting for them to tour again.
15. "Close the door, put out the light. You know they won't be home tonight. The snow falls hard and don't you know? The winds of Thor are blowing cold."

Answer: Led Zeppelin

"No Quarter", one of Zeppelin's best, off the "Houses of the Holy" album, originally released in 1973. Page is amazing on this one.
16. "He said he wanted Heaven but praying was too slow. So, he bought a one-way ticket on an airline made of snow. Did you say you saw your good friend flyin' low? Flyin' low, dyin' slow."

Answer: Steppenwolf

"Snowblind Friend", off of "Steppenwolf 7", originally released in 1971. This song was written by Hoyt Axton, and was probably the song that rejuvenated the band's career and allowed them to keep going strong for another thirty years. This album also contains that instrumental classic "Earschplittinloudenboomer".
17. "Doesn't have a point of view, knows not where he's going to. Isn't he a bit like you and me?"

Answer: The Beatles

"Nowhere Man", off of their highly acclaimed "Rubber Soul" album, originally released in 1965.
18. "My baby, she like to rock. My baby, she like to roll. My baby, she can dance all night. My baby got no control."

Answer: Neil Young

"Powderfinger", from the album "Rust Never Sleeps". Aside from Keith Richards, Weird Old Uncle Neil is probably the coolest dude to have ever strapped on the axe.
