Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jason's first album was released in 2002. What was the name of the album?

Answer: Waiting For My Rocket To Come

"Waiting For My Rocket To Come" was released in 2002. Early that year Mraz signed to Elektra Records and recorded his debut album, working with producer John Alagía.
2. The first single from his debut album shot Mraz to stardom. What was the name of this single?

Answer: Remedy (I Won't Worry)

The single with the catchy chorus "I won't worry my life away" received wide radio and MTV play in 2003 and displayed Mraz's vocal talents. The single helped increase sales of the album which would go on to become certified as platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
3. Jason's second album was released in 2005 and entered the US charts at number five after selling in excess of 900,000 copies in the first week. What is the title of this album?

Answer: Mr. A-Z

In "Mr.A-Z" which is effectively a self titled album, Mraz mixes soft emotional tracks with up beat jazzy rap. Mraz was born on June 23, 1977 and was raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia in the USA.
4. "It takes no time to fall in love but it takes you years to..." What line comes next?

Answer: know what love is

These lyrics are from "Life is Wonderful" off Mraz's second album "Mr.A-Z". The verse continues "It takes some fears to make you trust; it takes those tears to make it rust' it takes some dust to make it polished."
5. How do these lyrics finish? "Red top and matching bottoms. You know the ones, the ones you got on, Pull them over your skinny self But don't cover your_____"

Answer: tattoo

These lyrics are taken from the track "O Lover". The O stands for opportunistic. It is a catchy track that is very up beat and extremely hard to not sing along to. "O Lover" is off the album "Mr.A-Z".
6. What song contains these lyrics? "Climb up over the top. Survey the state of the soul. You've got to find out for yourself whether or not you're truly trying. Why not give it a shot? Shake it. Take control and inevitably wind up, Find out for yourself all the strengths you have inside of you."

Answer: Song For A Friend

"Song For A Friend" demonstrates Mraz's uplifting lyrics and the track even has the backing of a high school chorus! The track is essentially two parts. The first being the main bit; the second, which comes after a soft slow stretch of music, is vibrant and features the above lyrics.
7. What is the name of the first US single off Mraz's second album "Mr. A-Z"?

Answer: Wordplay

"Wordplay" was released and instantly gained radio play throughout Australia, Asia and the US. Parts of Europe were also starting to click on to the talented singer. The song is basically a play with words itself. Jason Mraz is a musician who has the ability to fool around with his lyrics and "wordplay" is drawing attention to this ability.
8. In between his two studio albums Mraz released a live album. What was the name of the album?

Answer: Tonight Not Again

"Tonight, Not Again: Jason Mraz Live" was recorded at the Eagles Ballroom in 2004. Jason released a DVD to compliment the CD. The live recording was made up of songs from Jason's previous album, EP and live shows.
9. What is the name of the Jason Mraz song in which he "dreamed he went to England and met the Spice Girls there for tea"?

Answer: Dreamlife of Rand McNally

"Dreamlife of Rand McNally" is a humourous song which follows a series of dreams from one Rand McNally. The initial line of the song is "Who is he, Mr. Rand McNally? I had I dream that mystery was me. Now who else could I be?" Whether the song is insinuating that he is living his dream or what I am not entirely sure, however it is a crowd favourite and a song that was enjoyed thoroughly by the crowd at the gig I attended.
10. What is the name of the EP released by Mraz in 2002?

Answer: The E Minor EP in F

Released the same year as his debut album the EP contained six tracks. Only one of the tracks featured on the EP made it to an official release and that was "On Love, in Sadness" which was on "Waiting For My Rocket To Come". Jason Mraz has also covered Elton John, releasing a cover of "Rocket Man". "Rocket Man" is another song that features regularly in his live shows and has been used to open the set on occasions.
