1. What musician does The Cure, Souixsie & The Banshees, and The Glove have in common?

Answer: Robert Smith

The Cure frontman Robert Smith had first worked with Souixsie & The Banshees while touring as the opening act. When Souixsie & The Banshees guitarist suddenly quit, Smith offered to fill in as the guitarist and finish out the tour, playing in both bands every night.

The Glove was formed as a side project with Smith and Banshees bassist Steve Severin. Later on Smith joined as a fulltime member of the Banshees, contributing to and recording their studio LP "Hyaena" and appearing on the live LP "Nocturne".

Answer: Robert Fripp

Robert Fripp, the sole original member of his band, King Crimson, had been offered the guitar slot in Yes after Peter Banks left, but turned them down to complete his band's second album. Ironically, Bill Bruford later left Yes to join King Crimson, taking up an offer extended by Fripp.

Born in Florida, Gram Parsons had played with The International Submarine Band, releasing one LP, "Safe At Home" in 1968, by the time he was asked to join The Byrds after a chance encounter with their bassist, Chris Hillman. Parsons only recorded one LP with them as well, the highly influential "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" in 1968, which brought country into a rock and roll context. Parsons didn't stay long, and neither did Hillman, where the two of them formed The Flying Burrito Brothers, releasing "The Gilded Palace of Sin" in 1969.

Keyboardist Vince Clarke was the principle songwriter for Depeche Mode, a role which Martin Gore assumed when Clarke left after just one album. His next band, Erasure, with singer Andy Bell has been a success since the late '80s. 2012 saw Clarke reuniting with Gore for the first time in over thirty years as VCMG, an instrumental electronic duo, releasing "Ssss".

Ian McDonald was a founding member of all three bands. He wrote most of the music(with lyrics written by Pete Sinfield) for King Crimson's eponymous debut album, before departing. He formed Foreigner with Mick Jones before being kicked out after their third album, "Head Games" in 1979.

The 21st Century Schizoid Band contained mostly former alumni of King Crimson who played material from the band's early '70s releases that featured those members.
