The song was a flop when it came out, but was re-released in 1966, and went to number 30 on Billboard's U.S. Top 40 after the duo had some major success. Another song on the album which you may have heard of, was released a little later and had a little more success.

It was called "Sounds Of Silence".

"Another Saturday Night" was a top ten hit for Sam Cooke in 1963, peaking at number ten on the Billboard charts that year. The song was most notably covered in 1974 by Cat Stevens. The talented Cooke had 29 Top 40 records in a span of eight years between 1957 and 1965. Unfortunately he was shot to death in 1965, in a dispute with a California hotel manager.

The Carpenters recorded "Rainy Days and Mondays" in 1971 and the song shot to number one on the Billboard charts that year. It was the first track on the album simply titled "Carpenters" and was written by the then relatively unknown combo of Paul Williams and Roger Nichols.

"Will You Be Staying After Sunday" was the Peppermint Rainbow's title cut from their album of the same name, and only top 40 U.S. Billboard hit, peaking at number 32 in 1969. They were a discovery of "Mama" Cass Elliot. They were one of the 60's "One Hit Wonders" and broke up in 1970.

The song "Come Saturday Morning" was a 1970 release for the group and made it to number 17 on the U.S. Billboard Top 40. It was the group's second hit, having had "Guantanamera" as a top ten hit four years earlier. The song was also featured prominently in the movie "The Sterile Cuckoo" starring Liza Minnelli, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song that year.

It came off their debut album called "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears", and also featured the cuts "I Call Your Name", and "California Dreamin" which was their first top 40 hit. The song won a Grammy award in 1967.

Although this song is one of his best known, it was overshadowed on the album itself by the title cut, and also "Bennie and The Jets", as well as the original recording of "Candle In The Wind", which Elton recorded as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, and later re-recorded after the death of England's Princess Diana.

This song went to number 16 in the U. S., as well as number one in Australia, number six in the U.K. and also made the top 20 in France, Holland, Italy, and Germany.
