Answer: True

True. "Caribbean Queen" was a Billy Ocean number one tune in the U.S. for two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts during the fall of 1980. It also reached a high of number six on the U.K. charts. However, "European Queen" (same song, different title) was the release in the rest of Europe, and that title was a Top 20 song in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

There was also a version called "African Queen" which was released as well.
2. Which upbeat tune became a number one U.S single for Wham! in 1984?

Answer: Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

Of the four listed songs "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" was the only one released in the U.S. and it went to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts for a three week stay in the fall of 1984. It also became the duo's first number one U.K. hit. All the other listings were Top 10 hits in the U.K. without U.S. release.
3. "Money for Nothing" was a number one U.S. tune for Dire Straits in 1985. Who buzzed around the studio to sing the famous line "I want my MTV"?

Answer: Sting

It was Sting (Gordon Sumner) of The Police who made a cameo appearance and sang the words "I want my MTV" on this tune which spent three weeks at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts in the fall of 1985 as well as reaching number four in the U.K.

The song was Dire Straits most successful single and won a Video Music Award that year. It also became the first video played on MTV Europe when it premiered on August 1, 1987.
4. Ready for the World was a R&B band that found their way to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts in 1985. What was the name of the tune?

Answer: Oh Sheila

It was "Oh Sheila" which gave Ready for the World the biggest hit of their career when it became a number one U.S. Billboard Hot 100 tune in the fall of 1985. The group was having some success on the R&B charts and this song was part of an album that was self titled. It was their third release from the album and the first one to make it onto the Hot 100 charts.
5. Peter Cetera took "Glory of Love" to the top of the charts in 1986. Of what popular supergroup was he a former member? (most popular in the 1970s and 1980s)

Answer: Chicago

Cetera was a mainstay with the longtime supergroup Chicago from its inception in 1967 to his departure in 1985. "Glory of Love" was his first solo accomplishment, and it became a number one U.S. Billboard Hot 100 tune when it spent two weeks at the top of the charts in the summer of 1986. The song was also featured on the soundtrack of the 1986 motion picture "The Karate Kid, Part II".
6. "Papa Don't Preach" was a number one albeit controversial tune for Madonna in 1986. In the music video which veteran actor is cast as her father?

Answer: Danny Aiello

It was Danny Aiello who portrayed the father in the video version of "Papa Don't Preach", a tune which spent two weeks atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts and spurned a controversy over the subject of teenage pregnancy and abortion. The song's lyrics describe a tryst between two young lovers and her dilemma after her finding out that she has become pregnant.

It touches on the subject whether to keep the baby or have an abortion which spurned controversy between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice groups. The video portrays the girl and her father coming to grips with the situation, and the girl's decision to keep the baby
7. Of the four listed songs here, which was the single for Bob Seger that went to number one in the U.S? (Don't forget, we're in the 1980s)

Answer: Shakedown

Well, "We've Got Tonight", and "Still the Same" are from the 1970s and they didn't make it to number one, "Old Time Rock and Roll" only mustered a surprising number 28 placing despite Tom Cruise, so that leaves "Shakedown" as the Bob Seger number one tune.

It spent a week at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts in the summer of 1987. The song was from the soundtrack of the 1987 motion picture "Beverly Hills Cop II" starring Eddie Murphy. Surprisingly, although Seger had numerous Top 10 hits in the U.S., this was the only one to make it to the top of the charts.
8. What group still hadn't found what they were looking for in 1987?

Answer: U2

The Irish supergroup U2 were the ones who released "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and sent it to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts for a two week stay in the summer of 1987. The song also went to number one in the group's native country and reached number six in the U.K.

It was the second release and second straight number one single off their breakthrough album "The Joshua Tree".
9. "Foolish Beat" was a 1988 number one single for this talented singer/songwriter who came to us out of the blue. Who was she?

Answer: Debbie Gibson

It was Debbie Gibson who burst on to the scene scoring at will from her debut album called "Out of the Blue". Her fourth single released from the album and fourth successive top 10, was called "Foolish Beat" and it spent as week at the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the summer of 1988. Gibson wrote, produced and sang the song, making her the first artist in history to accomplish this feat, which was noted in the "Guinness Book of World Records". Gibson in more recent times has become an actress as well as a singer and has appeared in a number of Broadway productions.

She has dropped the Debbie and is known as Deborah Gibson, her given name.
10. Richard Marx was a solo artist who was making a name for himself in the late 1980s. He began 1989 with a new album called "Repeat Offender", his first solo album and this gave him his first number one tune, "Satisfied".

Answer: False

False. Marx' solo debut was his self titled "Richard Marx" album which yielded four top 10 hits including his first U.S. number one tune "Right Here Waiting". The song "Satisfied" was his second number one tune and was the debut cut from his second album called "Repeat Offender". "Satisfied" spent one week at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts in the summer of 1989.
