Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Modern Times", 1993

Answer: Volt

One of the early bands of the now-famous Daan Stuyven, lead singer of Dead Man Ray and his own solo project DAAN. Just like Running Cow, Volt brought us cheesy 80's elektro pop in the 90's, but was too early for the 80's revival and thus never became very popular.
2. "Red Poppies", 1997

Answer: Zop Hopop

The first full-length album of Zop Hopop aka Sacha Toorop. A talented musician out of the alternative scene of Liège and son of painter Jan Toorop. One other album up until 2003 (when this quiz was written) is "Western".
3. "Juggernaut", 1997

Answer: Think of One

Think of One's very first album; most of the music on this album was recorded as a demo previously, and used for a theatre production. The band at the time they made this album usually consisted of between 6 and 20 people on a small stage, including flamethrowing acts and dancers. Most vocals on this album are by Tom Theuns instead of David Bovée (who is the actual lead singer).
4. "Dwarfish Spectacles", 2000

Answer: Bar 8

A 7-piece band formed around Bart Armand, mixing classical instruments with modern ones, mixing rock with gypsy sounds, mixing drama and joy, etc.
5. "06:21:03:11 Up Evil", 1993

Answer: Front 242

Industrial band with Patrick Codenys and Daniel B., who later formed Speed Tribe and shortly after Male or Female, together with Elko Blyweert (of Dead Man Ray and Franco Saint De Bakker fame). Elko also makes appearances with Front 242.
6. "The People's Popsicle", 1994

Answer: Milk The Bishop

All of the mentioned bands have Armand Bourgoignie in them, but Milk The Bishop IS Armand Bourgoignie. Milk The Bishop on stage, on the other hand, included, amongst others, Joost Zwegers, of Novastar fame (listed as Joost Zweeg back then) and Wim Avonts.
For cheerful and only slightly cheesy pop, Milk The Bishop is your band.
7. "Intérieur/Extérieur", 2001

Answer: Ming

I had never heard of Ming until I saw them live at De Nachten festival in 2002. As far as I know they are a band from Brussels, signed to the German label, Doxa Records. The best way I can describe their music is... Kraftwerk with female vocals.
8. "Blue Sky, Maybe", 1998

Answer: Moxie

All I really know about this band is that it's very hard to find out they are Belgian, since almost all their albums have been released on non-Belgian labels. I believe they are also a Brussels-based band.
9. "Kiss Me, You Fool", 1998

Answer: Nemo

Nemo are busy bees Peter Houben (whom I suspect of writing songs day and night continuously), Pascal Deweze (Shadowgraphic City, Metal Molly, Sukilove, Chitlin' Fooks, ...), Herman Houbrechts (best known as ex-drummer of Dead Man Ray and current drummer for Mauro), and Bert Maes (Ex-Sister Pou Pou).
10. "Universal Love Music", 2000

Answer: Kamino

The debut album of Kamino (formerly known as Nancy*). With lighthearted titles as "How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away?" and "Tuduptup Girls", Kamino brings us, as they say in the album title, universal love music.
All the bands I named in this quiz are Belgian, with the exception of Ohgr (Canadian), Ze Drugsies, and Ampère (I made those up). Check them all out if you get the chance!
