Answer: Alex Lifeson

Alex Zivojinovich was born on August 27, 1953 in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada to his Yugoslavian parents. As a small child he showed an interest in all things musical. Between the ages of eight to twelve years of age, he attempted to learn to play the viola, but was unable to master it. To keep their son in tune with his musical side, his parents bought him a guitar for his twelfth birthday.

Geddy Lee was born Gary Lee Weinrib on July 29, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His Polish parents were survivors of a concentration camp in World War II Germany. From the time he was born his parents believed he was destined for greatness. His grandmother had an extremely heavy Yiddish accent and used say Gary as Geddy. Eventually, he changed his name legally to Geddy Lee.

When he joined Rush, the group was mainly into performing Cream lyrics on stage..then one day it all changed and they would be the most sought after rock band in all of Canada.

Neil Ellwood Peart was born on September 12, 1952. When he as younger he used to help his father, who was a manager for International Harvesters, but Neil had a love for all things musical. When he was sixteen he was a member of the J.R. Flood band, but the band was not too successful at least according to Neil.

When he was eighteen he packed his bags, and with a heart full of rock star dreams, he moved to London where he worked in the tourist office. It was in London, in his spare time that he practiced the drum kit and sent numerous tapes to any record company that was willing to give him a listen.

By 1994, the band had went through changes. No longer were they performing Cream lyrics on stage, but John Rustey had been replaced with Neil Peart. When Peart joined Rush, he became the lyricist and drummer. With Lee's topnotch vocals the band had much to offer, and they undertook their first US tour in 1974.

In April of 1968, Alex Lifeson and John Rutsey formed The Projection band, which would come to be known as Rush. Starting with August of 1968, the band went through numerous changes until they would eventually arrive with the final product of Alex, Geddy and Neil forever known as Rush.

In August of 1968, Jeff Jones joins The Projection, along with his older, half brother, Bill Rutsey. It was Bill that gave the band the name of Rush...however, as you will soon find out, it did not stay that way. In September of 1968, Jeff leaves the band and Geddy Lee joins.

Then in January of 1969, Lindy Young joins the band and for some off the wall reason, they change the name of the band from Rush to Hadrian. Between May and July of 1969, Geddy leaves the band and Joe Perna becomes a member and then Lindy leaves and Hadrian breaks-up.

In September of 1969, Alex, Geddy and John (Bill Rutsey's younger brother) formed Rush.
