Answer: The Emotions

The Emotions were formed in Chicago and originally consisted of the Hutchinson sisters: Jeanette, Sheila and Wanda. Their upbeat song "Best of My Love" soared to the top of the U.S. Billboard singles charts in the summer of 1977. The song was co-written by Maurice White and Al McKay of Earth, Wind & Fire fame.

Some of the lyrics to this song read: "Whoa, whoa, you've got the best of my love / Whoa, whoa you've got the best of my love.." The Emotions and Earth, Wind & Fire would later combine to make a hit called "Boogie Wonderland." Rose Royce ("Car Wash") hailed from Los Angeles.

Jimmy Buffett achieved success in 1977 with his song "Margaritaville." The song pays homage to a relaxed lifestyle, fueled by a passion for margarita, his favorite "adult beverage." A classic margarita cocktail is made of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice, with an added touch of salt.

In the song's lyrics, Buffett says that he is "wasting away in Margaritaville / searching for my lost shaker of salt..." This tune was released in January 1977 and reached the number eight position in the U.S. Billboard singles chart.
