Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A portrait of the band, standing in front of Roger's drum kit. Freddie has a spot on his shirt.

Answer: The Game

One of Queen's best-selling albums, "The Game" featured both of the band's #1 songs in the United States: "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". This album also marks the first use of an electronic keyboard instrument (then known as a "synthesizer") on a Queen album: An Oberheim OBX.
2. The band logo, in full color, against a white background.

Answer: A Night at the Opera

Released in 1975, "A Night at the Opera" was Queen's breakthrough album. Showcasing the peak of their vocal technique, this album is best known for the monumental "Bohemian Rhapsody".
3. Freddie is standing on stage, looking out at a concert audience. A wisp of smoke shines around him from a spotlight opposite the camera.

Answer: Live at Wembley '86

Released in 1992, this is one of two concerts Queen had performed at Wembley Stadium during their Magic Tour, in July 1986. While other live albums featured highlights from various shows, "Live at Wembley" is an entire concert, warts and all. Personally, my favorite track is their performance of "Another One Bites the Dust".
NOTE: In 2003, this album was re-released with bonus tracks from other live shows during the Magic Tour of 1986. The cover of this version of the album shows a picture of Freddie in mid-song, with his back arched nearly parallel to the stage.
4. A portrait of the band, with all members wearing black, angled slightly askew. A red outline borders the picture.

Answer: Greatest Hits (1981)

Released in 1981, the original "Greatest Hits" package was one of the first ever to include an all-new song, in this case "Under Pressure". The practice of including new music on such compilations has since become an industry standard.
5. The band logo, in gold outline form, against a blue background.

Answer: Classic Queen

"Classic Queen" is the Hollywood Records release of Queen's second volume of greatest hits; the track listing varies slightly from the "Greatest Hits II" package released by Parlophone Records in England.
6. A portrait of the band, in sepia tone. John apparently had a bad hair day.

Answer: The Works

Released in 1984, "The Works" is the only Queen album which had portions recorded in the United States (at the Record Plant in Los Angeles). In fact, during some "down time" in 1983, Brian gathered a few of his colleagues one weekend for a jam session; the result became the rare EP "Star Fleet Project".
7. An artist's rendering of the band logo, caught in mid-explosion.

Answer: Queen Rocks

Released in 1997, "Queen Rocks" is a compilation of some of the band's more rocking songs (as the album title implies). It also features the only Queen song recorded by the three surviving members of the band: "No-One But You (Only the Good Die Young)".
8. The band stand on stage, sillhouetted against dozens of bright spotlights.

Answer: Live Killers

Released in 1979, "Live Killers" features highlights of concert performances over the previous two years. The release of a live album was prompted by numerous bootleg recordings of concerts that had circulated among the fans.
9. The band, drawn as cartoon characters, dance as skyrockets launch behind them.

Answer: A Kind of Magic

1986's "A Kind of Magic" includes music recorded by Queen for the movie "Highlander". The movie's director, Russell Mulcahy, had asked the band if they could contribute one, maybe two, songs. After viewing the footage completed at the time, the band heartily agreed to record six songs.
10. A portrait of the four band members, each of their faces running together.

Answer: The Miracle

1989's "The Miracle" showed a new direction for Queen. With tracks like "The Invisible Man" and "Was It All Worth It", the album began to show the band's maturity. Unfortunately, it also hinted at what was to come two years later.
11. Freddie is standing on stage, holding his trademark half-mic stand over his head as a spotlight shines from far above him.

Answer: Queen

Queen's first album, released in 1973, rode on the heels of the glam-rock era, while at the same time showing hints of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Standout tracks include "Liar" and "Keep Yourself Alive".
12. A portrait of the band, dressed in black, blending into a black background. Freddie's hands are crossed on his chest.

Answer: Queen II

The cover for "Queen II", photographed by Mick Rock, is arguably the most famous portrait of the band. The image was recreated twice by Queen for music videos: "Bohemian Rhapsody" and (in a more modern twist) "One Vision". "Queen II" is the band's only concept album; in its original 1974 LP release, the cover was themed in black, and the gatefold interior was a different portrait in white.
13. The band's logo, in full color, against a black background.

Answer: A Day at the Races

1976's "A Day at the Races" was the sequel to the previous year's "A Night at the Opera". Both of these albums were named after movies made by the Marx Brothers. The photos of the band members featured in the liner notes were taken during their free concert at Hyde Park, London, earlier that year.
14. A giant robot has disrupted a Queen concert. One of its fingers has impaled Freddie.

Answer: News of the World

Legendary sci-fi artist Frank Kelly Freas contributed his talents to the cover of this album; the picture is based upon a "Fantastic Stories" magazine cover he had created in the 1950s.
15. A sculpture of Freddie overlooks Lake Geneva.

Answer: Made In Heaven

Released in 1995, "Made In Heaven" is Queen's final album of original work. A little-known fact about the making of this album is that one day in 1993, someone stole the briefcase containing Freddie's vocal tracks from Brian May. Fortunately, the briefcase was recovered intact a few days later.
