Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Aerosmith has done many remakes from this band such as "I'm Down", "Come Together", and "Helter Skelter". Which band did these songs originally?

Answer: The Beatles

"Come Together" was on Aerosmith's "Greatest Hits","I'm Down" was on "Permanent Vacation", and "Helter Skelter" was found on "Pandora's Box". In the same order The Beatles released these songs on "Abbey Road", "Help Single B-Side", and "The White Album".
2. The Ramones did a remake of the song "C'mon Lets Go" for the "Rock and Roll Highschool" soundtrack; who did this song originally?

Answer: Richie Valens

Richie's version was on his first single, released in 1958. He died nine days before his first full-length album was released, on February 3, 1959 in a plane crash along with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson).
3. Members of Duran Duran joined up with Robert Palmer and recorded as The Power Station. One of the songs that they recorded was "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" by which band?

Answer: T-Rex

In Britian, in the early 70's, T-Rex's popularity was compared to that of The Beatles. They never caught on much in the US, though this song did make it to the top ten in the winter of 1972.
4. Motley Crue released a slightly altered version of "Smokin' In The Boys Room" on their 1985 LP "Theatre Of Pain". Who was originally "Smokin' In The Boys Room"?

Answer: Brownsville Station

Motley Crue changed the verse "My buddy Fang, and me and Paul" to "My buddies Sixx, Mick, and Tom" to match their line-up, and not Brownsville Station's.
5. Brooks and Dunn, a country duo, did a remake of "Against The Wind" on "King Of The Hill - Music From And Inspired By The TV Series King Of The Hill" in 1999; who did the song originally, almost 20 years earlier?

Answer: Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band

Bob Seger released "Against The Wind" in 1980 on the album of the same name. As far as the Brooks and Dunn version goes, I've played it for friends that are big fans of Bob Seger, but can't stand country music who liked their version well enough to buy the "King Of The Hill" album.
6. The song "Another Saturday Night" has been covered by both Cat Stevens and Jimmy Buffett; who did "Another Saturday Night" originally?

Answer: Sam Cooke

Sam Cooke also did "Twistin' The Night Away", which was covered by Rod Stewart. The Cat Stevens version can be found on "Cat Stevens Greatest Hits", released in 1975. Jimmy Buffett's version is on "Margaritaville Cafe - Late Night Menu" released in 1993, which features various artists that play at his restaurant in Key West.
7. One movie soundtrack featured the following songs: Billy Joel's "All Shook Up", Vince Gill's "That's Alright", Travis Tritt's "Burning Love", and many more that were originally recorded by the same man. Who was that man?

Answer: Elvis Presley

The soundtrack was "Honeymoon In Vegas" and featured 13 of Elvis's songs by different bands; of course, that doesn't hold up to the movie, which had hundreds of Elvis impersonators parachuting over Vegas. Oddly enough, there is no version of "Viva Las Vegas" on the soundtrack.
8. The soundtrack for the movie "Tommyboy" featured a remake of "I Love It Loud" as performed by the Phunk Junkees; who did the song originally?

Answer: Kiss

The Kiss version of "I Love It Loud" can be found on the LP "Creatures Of The Night", which was their last album before removing their make-up. Kiss later went back to wearing their trade-mark make-up, but much of the intrigue was gone as we knew what they looked like without it.
9. Reggae band Wailing Souls did a cover of "Wild Wild Life" by which 80's band?

Answer: Talking Heads

"Wild Wild Life" by Wailing Souls can be found on the "Cool Runnings" soundtrack, released in 1993.
10. Pearl Jam recorded their version of "Last Kiss" for the "No Boundaries" CD in 1999; who originally recorded the song in 1962?

Answer: Wayne Cochran

Wayne Cochran wrote and recorded this song in 1962, he also sold copies of the 45 from the trunk of his car. A recording executive who heard the song produced a version by J.Frank Wilson And The Cavaliers in 1964, which achieved more success than the original recording.
