Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Number 330: "-----", by The Rolling Stones.

Answer: Aftermath

Released in 1966, this was the first Stones album to comprise tracks written solely by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. It went to the top of the Record Retailer LP charts in the UK and topped the US Cash Box Top 100 albums chart. In 2018, the "Guardian" newspaper ranked all 23 Stones LPs to that time and put "Aftermath" at number five. The number one on that list was "Sticky Fingers".

In case you have ever wondered, the band's name came from the song "Rollin' Stone Blues" by Muddy Waters.
2. Number 329: "-----", by D J Shadow.

Answer: Endtroducing

Released in 1996, "Endtroducing...." was the debut album from California's Josh Davis. It reached number 37 on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums charts and number 17 on the UK Official Charts Company listings.

According to Mike Diver on "BBC Music" in 2011, this was: "An unprecedented debut which changed the face of hip hop in the 90s."
3. Number 328: "Modern Vampires of the -----", by Vampire Weekend.

Answer: City

In 2013, "Modern Vampires of the City" was the third LP from New York City's Vampire Weekend. It reached number one on the Billboard 200. It was their second consecutive number one, and did well also in the UK, Canada, and Australia.

The indie rockers had been together from 2006 and "Modern Vampires of the City" won them their first Grammy. Writing retrospectively in the "Los Angeles Times" in 2013, Randall Roberts described it as: "a brave, surprising third effort that's both challenging and confident, catchy but progressive, expertly imagined and executed."
4. Number 327: "Live At -----", by The Who.

Answer: Leeds

When it came to picking a concert to release as a live album, Pete Townsend chose one played at the University of Leeds. It was, "Rolling Stone" said,"a warts-and-all live album, including an accidental clunking sound on 'My Generation'. There's no finesse, just the pure power of a band able to play as loud as it wants to."

In 1970 this was a number three on the UK albums chart and number four on the Billboard 200.
5. Number 326: "Dirty -----", by Prince.

Answer: Mind

Released in 1980, "Dirty Mind" was, some said, Prince's first great album. "Rolling Stone" magazine called it "a pop record of Rabelaisian achievement: entirely, ditheringly obsessed with the body, yet full of sentiments that please and provoke the mind."

The album topped out at number 45 on the Billboard 200, suggesting that while Prince was becoming a force to be reckoned with, he was not there yet.
6. Number 325: "All ----- No Filler!", by Jerry Lee Lewis.

Answer: Killer

In 1993, "All Killer, No Filler: The Anthology" was a box set of 42 songs from Jerry Lee Lewis. It contained many of his best known hits.
7. Number 324: "A Rush of ----- to the Head", by Coldplay.

Answer: Blood

In 2002, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" was the second album from the London-based Coldplay. It topped the UK charts, was a number five in the USA and won three Grammys. "New Musical Express" hailed it as: "...an album of outstanding natural beauty..."
8. Number 323: "-----!", by The Clash.

Answer: Sandinista

In the 1970s when new bands tore up the norms of rock and roll and produced punk, The Clash stood head and shoulders above the common herd. In a later "Rolling Stone" readers' poll of 'The Best Punk Rock Bands of All Time', The Clash were installed at number two.

"Sandinista!" was a 36-track triple album that went to number 19 own the UK charts and number 24 in the USA. In 2015, writing at 'ultimateclassicrock', Dave Swanson noted: "....of all the first wave of punk bands, none was more adventurous than the Clash."
9. Number 322: "From Elvis in -----", by Elvis Presley

Answer: Memphis

In 1969 "From Elvis in Memphis" marked the return of The King to live music and albums after a seven-year hiatus during which he had acted in movies and recorded soundtrack albums only. He wanted a new sound, so the recording sessions took place at American Sound Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The album was well received by the critics and went to number 13 on the Billboard 200. It reached number one in the UK.

In 2007, the "Guardian' newspaper listed "Elvis In Memphis" as one of "The nine Elvis albums you should own", noting "Artistically, it is ranked as one of his all-time greats and certainly was the best of his later recordings." The album was to be reissued in 1998 and 2009 with additional tracks.
10. Number 321: "----- *Censored* Rockwell!", by Lana Del Ray.

Answer: Norman

Normally profanity is not allowed on funtrvia.com, so you will have to use your imagination on what word has been replaced by *Censored* in the title of the 2019 release by Lana Del Rey.

The was the sixth album from Lana Del Rey and went on to reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number one in the UK. It was nominated for a Grammy and in the UK won an NME award. This, NME said, was "...an album of emotional ups and downs but one that feels, perhaps thanks to her past habit of filtering things through a world of old Hollywood glamour and soft-focus romanticism, like her realest one yet."
