Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What announcement was made by STYX September 20, 2003?

Answer: Glen Burtnik is leaving the group, effective immediately

Burtnik cited personal reasons, and wanting to spend time with family. After years of touring with a "watered-down" version of STYX, this crew finally had an album that stood among the all-time greatest STYX albums, thus making them a bonafide representation of the greatest group in Rock 'N' Roll history. Now, a mere seven months after the release of "Cyclorama", they have lost yet another member.
2. Who became the newest member of STYX on September 20, 2003?

Answer: Ricky Phillips

Phillips, though probably best known as the bass player for Bad English and The Babys, has also done touring and/or session work with the likes of Jimmy Page, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltrey, Mick Jagger and Jeff Beck.
3. As of September 20, 2003, how many members of STYX have there been?

Answer: 10

If you got 11, you are probably counting Tom Nardini. He was never actually a member of STYX. He quit before TW4 took on the STYX name.
4. As of September 21, 2003, how many live and studio albums does the current STYX line-up appear on?

Answer: 0

Ricky Phillips had never been a member of STYX before.
5. Where was the last place the "Cyclorama" line-up (not including part-time Bassist Chuck Panozzo) played in concert?

Answer: Pomona

SLC was the third-to-last appearance (fourth to last including a private show). I was priveleged enough to attend both SLC shows this year.
6. As of September 20, 2003 how many full-time members of STYX are original members (1972)?

Answer: 1

Only James Young was around in 1972. Chuck Panozzo is still around, but only as a part-time member. Tommy Shaw did not join until 1975.
7. As of the September, 2003 line-up change, how many current, full-time members of STYX were members of The Tradewinds?

Answer: 0

The founding members of the Tradewinds were Chuck Panozzo, John Panozzo, and Dennis DeYoung. Tom Nardini was the only other member of the Tradewinds. James Young and John Curulewski were both members of TW4. (AFTER the first name change). Again Chuck Panozzo IS still a member, but NOT full-time.
8. Besides the line-up change, STYX also announced the name will be changing to "STYX - 21st Century Live" to reflect the changing line-up and style of the group's music from that of "classic Styx".

Answer: False

They announced they are releasing a DVD called "21st Century Live".
9. STYX cancelled all remaining 2003 tour dates as a result of the line-up change.

Answer: False

Actually they announced the 2003 tour schedule would not change.
10. Which, of the following groups, has no Stygian ever been a member of?

Answer: Journey

While STYX has toured with Journey, no Stygian was ever a member of Journey. New addition Ricky Phillips was a member of Bad English AND The Babys. Glen Burtnik will be sorely missed by STYX fans old and new. Happy trails buddy! Or would it be more fitting to simply say "KYAGB"!
