2. After graduation, Shooter left Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Los Angeles, California. What was the name of the first band he assembled?

Answer: Stargunn

Shooter did not feel that Nashville was the place for him to begin his own musical career as his late father had. He knew there would be too many expectations. He was a fan of the rock group, Nine Inch Nails at the age of 16. It was not until the death of his dad in 2002 that his love for country music was revived.

His drummer, Bryan Keeling was a former member of the group, Water the Dog, before joining Shooter and the 357's. Jason Bracelin at www.aboutcountry.com, questioned him about the names of his previous and current bands in an interview. Shooter replied, "What can I say? I have a thing for guns."
3. Shooter made his big-screen debut playing opposite of which actor in the 2005 Oscar winning film, "Walk the Line"?

Answer: Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix did an excellent portrayal of country music legend, Johnny Cash, in the James Mangold film. As a tribute, Shooter acted as his famous father in a scene reenacting the early 1970s when Cash and Jennings were struggling to pursue musical careers. Cash moved into a small apartment in Nashville, Tennessee with Jennings, splitting the expense. Both became famous outlaw legends in their successful careers. John Carter Cash is the only son of outlaw artists, Johnny and June Carter Cash.

As an added note of interest, Waylon's leather-bound guitar, seen as he played the theme song on "The Dukes of Hazzard"(1979-1985) television series, was passed down to Shooter. He now plays the famed guitar at his own concerts.
5. Can you name the animal which is also the name of one of Shooter's albums?

Answer: The House of Blues

Shooter became aware he wanted to return to his country heritage so he dispersed his group on March 30, 2003. Trying to figure out his next move in New York, an invitation to play at the House of Blues came soon after. The dilemma was that he had no band to accomplish this.

However, he accepted the invitation anyway, using a backup band. After the successful House of Blues gig, the backup band officially became the 357's. Shooter declared, "The group just clicked from the first time we played together".
7. In 2005, Shooter released his song, "4th of July". Who was the country music legend featured singing a duet with him on this song?

Answer: George Jones

At the opening of the album, Jones states, "I'm just here to help ol' Shooter 'Put the 'O' Back in Country'", hence the name for his first debut album released in 2005 on Universal South Records. The duet, a chorus of, "He Stopped Loving Her Today" (1980) can be heard sung at the end of the song.

More than 200,000 copies of this album have been sold. Although he did a duet with Hank Williams, Jr., it was not included on this album.
8. On his first album, "Put the 'O' Back In Country", the songs recorded were from misplaced music of Waylon's that had been written by him before his death.

Answer: False

Not only is Shooter a multi-talented musician but an attributed songwriter as well. Out of the ten songs on the album, he wrote nine of them. They are: "Put The 'O' Back In Country","4th of July", "Lonesome Blues", "Solid Country Gold", "Busted In Baylor County", "Steady At The Wheel", "Manifesto No. 1", "The Letter", "Southern Comfort", and "Daddy's Farm".

His former band member, Leroy Powell, wrote "Sweet Savannah". Just before the album release, Powell, his guitarist and co-writer, set off to pursue a solo career. Shooter said in an interview with aboutcountry.com, that his favorite song on the album is, "Solid Country Gold".
9. Shooter did an album honoring his late father Waylon. What was the title of this special album?

In 2005, Shooter, acknowledging he was facing some of his darkest days, sought to reverence his father's legacy. Ten years later, he took the recordings, put the 357's rowdy rock, interwoven music to the haunting nine-song country track. Various supporters, including his long time partner and friend, Drea de Matteo and his mother, Jessi Colter, were instrumental in encouraging him to finish his dream venture.

In October 2008, "Waylon Forever" was released.
10. In "Waylon Forever", Shooter's mother, Jessi, sang backup vocals for her outlaw son. What other veteran female country music artist supported backup on this album?

Answer: Lee Ann Womack
