"At the Hop" became a number one hit in the US in January 1958. Before changing their name to Danny & The Juniors the group was known as The Juvenaires.

At Woodstock in 1969 Sha-Na-Na sang their version of this song and it was also included on the soundtrack of "American Grafitti", this time performed by Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids. It was also covered by Pat Boone's brother, Nick Todd.
