Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This video is quite artistic. Instead of telling a story, it shows an image for every line in the song. It was not shot in the traditional way (i.e. using a video camera). Instead, all the shots were taken with a regular camera and edited together, thus causing the video to appear shaky.
2. This video opens with the quote, "the mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death," appearing on the screen. The whole video is shot in black and white, except for one shot.
3. This video features three extremely technologically advanced kids. Each of them is dressed in one primary color (and their bikes match). The children make an attempt to see a concert on another planet. This video also features the band in awesome silver space suits.
4. In this video, the band is just sitting around a room, looking sort of lazy. One of the coolest shots in this video is when D'arcy is playing with a ball, and when she lets go of it, it flies up instead of dropping down.
5. This video is supposed to be a sequel to the video for "1979". It takes place five years after "1979", and four out of five of the original cast members appear in this video. I was happy to see that James was still running the convenience store in this one.
6. This video was the inspiration for a short film by Jonas Akerlund, who, coincidentally, directed the Smashing Pumpkins video.
7. This video is done mostly in black and white, but not completely. It shows the band floating above buildings, interspersed with clips of a little boy in a yard.
8. In this Smashing video, Billy's driving an ice cream truck. James is in a dress. People are making out everywhere. That's all I have to say about this classic. Which one is it?
9. This video features the charming, but dirty, mud-people. It also features Billy in silver pants, and D'arcy with blue hair.
10. This is one of the best known Smashing Pumpkins videos. It has a very old feel to it, and was based on a film from 1902 called "A Trip to the Moon."
