Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. First, an easy one, finish this opening line: "Can anybody find me ___ "

Answer: Somebody To Love

Performed by Queen, possibly the best known track on the "A Day At The Races" album, the follow-up to "A Night At The Opera".
2. "Begin the day with a friendly voice"

Answer: The Spirit Of Radio

Performed by Rush, on the "Permanent Waves" album. Also easily recognizable by its distinctive opening guitar riff. This is a good song, eh. (Released in 1980, which is pretty close to the '70's!)
3. "A seasoned witch can call you from the depth of your disgrace"

Answer: Close To The Edge

Performed by Yes, the title track of the album. On the original vinyl LP, this song took the entire "A" side, lasting over 18 minutes.
4. "My mind is clearer now, at last all's too well"

Answer: Heaven On Their Minds

I have to admit, this one is tough... The song is part of the "Jesus Christ Superstar" musical. Lyrics by Tim Rice, music by Andrew Lloyd Weber.
5. "Mother told me, yes, she told me"

Answer: Surrender

Performed by Cheap Trick on the "Heaven Tonight" album. The other answers are also lyrics of the chorus.
6. "Nibbling on sponge cake"

Answer: Margaritaville

Performed by Jimmy Buffett, from the album "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes". Some would say that this is a song about slacking off and getting drunk, but when I hear it, all I think about is going to the beach!
7. "Madman, drummers, bummers and indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat"

Answer: Blinded By The Light

Performed by Bruce Springsteen, from the "Greetings From Asbury Park N.J." album. There is also a version by Manfred Mann. I believe that the original version from "The Boss" is the better one.
8. "Dennis is a menace"

Answer: Patricia The Stripper

Performed by Chris de Burgh on the "Spanish Train And Other Stories" album. The other answers are tracks from the same album.
9. "I am the thief of the highway"

Answer: Born For Adventure

Performed by Styx, on the "Equinox" album, which also contains the mega-hit : "Suite Madame Blue".
10. To add a little "local" (Quebec, Canada) flavor to this quiz: "Imaginez, un homme-musicien"

Answer: Harmonium

For those of you who took a guess, you had a 1 in 4 chance of getting it right! The song was performed by Harmonium on their self-titled debut album. So, the song, the album and the band all have the same name. Things were simpler in 1974, don't you think? In 1978, the group separated after the very successful "L'Heptade" tour which took the French-speaking band across North America all the way to L.A.

The Los Angeles concert was the subject of a documentary. The break-up was mainly due to the fact that there were internal tensions in the band, but the members also felt that they could not produce a better album than "L'Heptade". I guess we will never know...
