1. Andy Kim did which song?

Answer: Rock Me Gently

Between 1968 and 1974, Andy Kim (born Androwis Jovakim) had seven songs in the top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 list. Two made the top ten: "Baby I Love You" at number nine in 1969; and "Rock Me Gently" at number one in 1974. Bert Kaempfert performed "Wonderland By Night" in 1960. Kool & The Gang did "Celebration" in 1980. Natalie Imbruglia sang "Torn" in 1998.
2. The group: INXS. The tune ?

Answer: Need You Tonight

An Australian alternative rock band, INXS was formed by Michael Hutchence, Garry Beers, Kirk Pengilly, and three brothers, Tim, Andy, and Jon Farriss. From 1983-2005, the group had 11 top 40 hits, seven of them in the top ten, on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. "Need You Tonight" (1987) was their only number one song.

The other number one tunes were: "Sad Eyes" by Robert John in 1979, "Here Comes The Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze in 1994, and "Slow Motion" by Juvenille (featuring Souljo Slim) in 2004.
3. Which number goes with Jan & Dean?

Answer: Surf City

Between 1958 and 1966, Jan (Berry) & Dean (Torrence) had 15 top 40 tunes on the Top/Hot 100, with six in the top ten (including "Jennie Lee" which was recorded by Jan, Dean, and Arnie Ginsburg but released in 1958 as by Jan & Arnie). In 1963 "Surf City" became their only chart topper. Jan was seriously injured in a car crash in April, 1966.

The duo eventually began singing again, but never reached their earlier popularity. [Of note: Dean Torrence was the lead singer on "Barbara Ann" by the Beach Boys in 1966.] KC And The Sunshine Band did "Get Down Tonight" in 1975. "Sara" (1986) was by Jefferson Starship. And in 2000 Enrique Iglesias performed "Be With You".
4. The melody? The artist: Billy Idol.

Answer: Mony Mony

Billy Idol (born William Broad) made the top 40 of the Hot 100 nine times between 1982 and 1990, four of those made the top ten. His only number one song was a live version of "Mony Mony" in 1987. Also getting to number one were: Carole King's "It's Too Late" in 1971, Janet Jackson's "That's The Way Love Goes" in 1993, and "No One" by Alicia Keys in 2007.

Janis Joplin (real name) began her career with Big Brother & The Holding Company. They had a number 12 hit, "Piece Of My Heart," on the Hot 100 in 1968. That year she left the group to go on her own. Sadly, she died of a drug overdose in 1970 at age 27.

Her only solo tune on the Hot 100, "Me And Bobby McGee," was a posthumous number one Hot 100 in 1971. [The film "The Rose", with Bette Midler, is based partly on her life.] "Please Don't Go" was by KC And The Sunshine Band in 1979. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts did "I Love Rock 'N Roll" in 1982.

In 1990, James Ingram performed "I Don't Have The Heart".
6. The singer: Ernie K-Doe. The song?

Answer: Mother-In-Law

Born Ernest Kador, Ernie K-Doe had a very rare one-hit wonder (his only song to reach the top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100) that topped the chart at number one (1961). Also topping the Hot 100 chart were: Elton John's "Philadelphia Freedom" in 1975; "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson in 1983; and "Bailamos" by Enrique Iglesias in 1999.
7. In 1958, what hit did The Kingston Trio have?

Answer: Tom Dooley

The folk group The Kingston Trio included Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds, and Dave Guard (replaced by John Stewart in 1961). The group had ten tunes in the top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 from 1958-1963. Two of those made the top ten: "Tom Dooley" at number one in 1958 and "Reverend Mr. Black" at number eight in 1963. "Keep On Truckin' (Part I)" was by Eddie Kendricks in 1973.

The Knack did "My Sharona" in 1979. In 1994, R. Kelly sang "Bump N' Grind".
8. The number one song? The group: Gladys Knight And The Pips.

Answer: Midnight Train To Georgia

Gladys Knight (real name) and The Pips (her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight, and two cousins William Guest and Edward Patten) placed 24 melodies in the Hot 100 top 40 between 1961 and 1975, including eight in the top ten. Despite their popularity, they had only a single number one song: "Midnight Train To Georgia" in 1973. [Because of "legal problems" Gladys Knight and The Pips could not sing together from 1977-1980.

After that, they never regained their popularity.] The other hits were: "Elton John's "Crocodile Rock" from 1972, "Jump" by Kris Kross in 1982, and "All My Life" by K-Ci & Jojo in 1998.
9. Name the tune by Billy Joel.
