The song, of course, is "Me and Bobby McGee" sung by Joplin on her album "Pearl". The song became a #1 pop hit. It was one of the many songs written by the master songsmith, Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster. Joplin died of an overdose in October, 1970, at the age of 27.

Answer: Webb Pierce

"There Stands the Glass" was one of Webb Pierce's best hits of 1953 even though it was banned by some radio stations. The song, written by Hull, Schurtz, and Greisham, was one of the songs that made Pierce the biggest Country star after the death of Hank Williams.

It was on the Country charts for 27 weeks, and as #1 for 12 weeks. Pierce, the man with the guitar-shaped swimming pool, had 13 songs hit the top in singles during the 1950's.
6. Tell me the line that comes next in this song by the "King": "Maybe I didn't treat you Quite as good as I should have Maybe I didn't love you"

"You Were Always on My Mind" was originally recorded by Brenda Lee. In 1972, Elvis Presley recorded it not long after he and his wife had separated. It was the "B" side of a single which reached gold in the US. It reached number 16 on Billboard magazine's Hot Country Singles chart. Of course, it would. Elvis WAS the King.

He died in 1977 at age 42 and is sincerely missed. In 1982 Willie Nelson took the song to #1 on the same chart for two weeks, and stayed on the chart for 21 weeks.

Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" drew many rumors as to whom it might be about. Carly has mentioned the subject to some people, even offering the information on charity auctions. It hasn't been completely revealed to the public, but the list is somewhat short now as to whom it might be.

Answer: Kay Starr

Kay Starr was born on an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma in 1922. By age 10 she was singing on a radio station for pay. She was still singing as of 2010. She was successful in jazz, pop and country genres, but she preferred jazz. "Wheel of Fortune" was released in 1952 and hit #1 in the charts and went gold.

It was the second top selling record of 1952. The song was written by Bennie Benjamin and George David Weiss.
11. What are the next words to this old Hank Snow mega-hit? "That big eight-wheeler rollin' down the track Means your true lovin' Daddy ain't comin' back 'Cuz I'm movin' on, I'll soon be gone, You were flying too high for my little old sky"

Answer: So I'm movin' on

This country traditional, "I'm Movin' On", was both written and sung by Hank Snow, The Singing Ranger. It went to #1 on the Billboard singles and stayed right there for 21 weeks. Snow made six more #1 Billboard hits in his career. Only two other Country songs, Eddy Arnold's "I'll Hold You in My Heart", and Webb Pierce's "In the Jailhouse Now" did as well. Snow died at 85 in 1999 and his widow died four years later. At his death they had been married for 64 years, which may be a record in show business.

15. Please pick which one is the correct next line of this song that was so well, and so often, done by Kate Smith: "God bless America Land that I love" Stand beside her And guide her"

Answer: Through the night with a light from above

"God Bless America" was written by Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. It became the signature song of Kate Smith, a well known vocalist by then, who sang it for the first time on Armistice Day, 1938, backed with a full orchestra and chorus, until the final high note which Smith sang as a solo high note before the orchestra and chorus joined in for the finale. Celine Dion recorded the song after 9/11 and also sang it at the 2003 Super Bowl.
