Keys is the co-founder and ambassador of the non profiting charity 'Keep A Child Alive' which helps families in Africa who have a member who has contracted the virus causing AIDS. Along with Bono she recorded the Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush song 'Don't Give Up' which was dedicated to this cause.

After the 9/11 attacks the song was one of the songs used as background to the news of this awful event. He was asked to perform the song at the 'Benefit Concert America' which was ten days after the event. He did so along with other musicians Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Sheryl Crow.
