Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The group were named after the person who invented the seed drill and the album's name was invented by Jacques Cousteau. What was the album?

Answer: Aqualung

The band were Jethro Tull. Their music was categorised as progressive rock and they were huge in the seventies. Their front man, Ian Anderson, was a fabulous flautist and showman. "Aqualung" was labelled as 'God Rock' and a concept album as there was a common narrative thread. "Locomotive Breath" is my favourite track on this album.
2. This group is named after a monarch and a colour. The album is named for the aftermath of the Greek God of the sea. Its title?

Answer: In the Wake of Poseidon

King Crimson were the band and they were widely regarded as being a landmark in progressive rock but their style ranged from rock, jazz, classical to psychedelic. "In the Wake of Poseidon" is one of the most unusual albums I have ever had the pleasure of owning.
3. This band was named after a heavy German airship and the album is named after real writings. What was it?

Answer: Physical Graffiti

Led Zeppelin have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. They started out as a blues rock band, with folk and eastern influences. To say their front man Robert Plant was exciting to watch is an understatement and he had a powerful vocal range. "Physical Graffiti" had the fantastic track "Kashmir" on it and the live version, Plant and Page performed on the "No Quarter" DVD is amazing. Led Zeppelin are reforming with Jason Bonham on drums for a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun who co-founded Atlantic Records in November 2007. 20,000 tickets went on sale and 20,000,000 people applied!
4. This band took their name from the opposite of good and other people and the album's name sounds as though you are moving fast with a crowd of wolves.

Answer: Run with the Pack

Bad Company were and still are a blues rock band who consisted of members from Free. Their front man, Paul Rodgers is known as "The Voice of Rock" and his voice just gets better and better. They were managed by Led Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant but he lost interest in them after Zepp's drummer John Bonham died in 1980. They reformed for another tour in 2001 and it was a sellout.
5. This band were named after a small orange and something you do when you are asleep. The album sounds like the word for a boundary or line.

Answer: Rubycon

Tangerine Dream were a German surreal rock band whose album "Rubycon" was described as "music that melts". Very much of an acquired taste but good if you're in the mood!

Answer: Wish You Were Here

Pink Floyd was the band and they have spanned the decades with some fantastic sounds. They are best known for their psychedelic rock music and concept albums. Paul Rodgers is still touring and is still taking the the world by storm.

His son Steve and daughter Jasmine are now on the music scene as Boa and well worth a listen.
