1. What drink did Elkie Brooks take into the charts in 1978?

Answer: Lilac Wine

Elkie Brooks was born in Salford, England. Her real name is Elaine Bookbinder and she is probably best known for the song 'Pearl's a Singer'.
2. Prince drove up the charts in what kind of vehicle in 1983?

Answer: Little Red Corvette

"Little Red Corvette" was released from the album 1999 and was the first single by Prince to reach the top ten in the US.
3. Who were The Scaffold singing about in 1968?

Answer: Lily the Pink

The Scaffold were from Liverpool and one member, Mike, is the younger brother of Sir Paul McCartney.
4. What was the name of the track written and performed by Phil Lynott (of Thin Lizzy fame) that was used as the theme tune for the UK pop programme "Top of the Pops"?

Answer: Yellow Pearl

Phil Lynott died at the very young age of 36. His grave in St Fintan's cemetery in Dublin, is regularly visited by family, friends and fans alike.

The yellow ribbon has come to symbolise the support for troops who are away at war. This song, however, was about a convict who on his release needed to know if his wife or girlfriend still wanted him around. I think the 100 yellow ribbons was a resounding YES!

Answer: Brown Girl in the Ring

Boney M are a German band who exploded onto the pop and disco scene in 1975. They had hits with "Mary's Boy Child", "Ma Baker", "Rasputin" and "Rivers of Babylon" and are still performing today.
9. What was the name of the single released by Will Young, the first winner of "UK Pop Idol", on winning the competition?

Answer: Evergreen

Since winning the series in 2002, Will has released four albums and topped the UK charts four times. He has also embarked upon an acting career which included the film 'Mrs Henderson Presents', which starred Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins and called for several members of the cast to go naked, including Will!
10. What event was Billy Idol singing about in 1983?

Answer: White Wedding

Billy was born William Broad in Middlesex in 1955. He found fame as the front man for punk band Generation X. In 1990 he was involved in an horrific motorbike accident which almost cost him his leg.
