According to an interview on his second CD, "Do You Believe Me Now", Patty Loveless is one of Jimmy's favorite female country singers. He wrote this song (along with Billy Kirsch) as a form of therapy.

Originally the beginning of the song was supposed to be the chorus, but it didn't work out as the chorus. So, it got moved to the beginning of the song because the writers of "Do You Believe Me Now" liked it so much they wanted to keep it.
