"Winter World of Love" was released in 1969 by Engelbert Humperdinck and went to Number 16 the following year. He was born Arnold George Dorsey and was a saxophone player early in his musical career. He served a stint in the service and contracted tuberculosis upon his discharge. When he regained his health in 1965 he signed with Decca Records and changed his stage name.
Two years later he topped the US charts with "Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)", a song originally composed in 1946 by James Pebworth, Robert Yount and Eddie Miller.
"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" was a 1970 Top Forty hit from Lenny Welch. Tom Jones made the charts with "Can't Stop Loving You" and "Daughter of Darkness" the same year. "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" went to the top of the US charts for B.J. Thomas.

The first recorded version of "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (in Perfect Harmony)" was recorded by Susan Shirley in 1971 for a Coca-Cola advertisement. When it was released for radio airplay it bombed. A commercial was filmed using the song on an Italian hilltop that generated a response for recordings of the song. A studio group was assembled called The Hillside Singers and the song was released as a single.
The New Seekers also recorded a version that became a US Top Ten hit, eventually selling 12 million copies. They also released an album titled "We'd Like to Teach the World to Sing".
The version released by The Hilltop Singers peaked at Number 13 on the US charts and was the group's only hit.

Art Garfunkel recorded "Wonderful World" for his his 1977 "Watermark" album. James Taylor and Paul Simon sang harmony and were credited on the single release. Art's version went to the top spot on the US Easy Listening charts and reached Number 17 on the US Billboard chart.
"Crying in My Sleep" was originally released as a single from the LP and failed to chart. The entire LP was taken from the shelves and "Wonderful World" was recorded and added to the album. It went on to become the only Top Forty single from the "Watermark" album.
"Baker Street" was a Number Two US hit by Gerry Rafferty. Todd Rundgren made the US Top Forty in 1977 with "Can We Still Be Friends". "Everybody Needs Love" was Stephen Bishop's Top Forty single in 1977.

Geoff Stephens of The New Vaudeville Band composed "There's a Kind of Hush" with Les Reed. Stephens formed The New Vaudeville Band and released the successful "Winchester Cathedral". "There's a Kind of Hush" was included on the group's debut album. In 1966 it was recorded by Gary and the Hornets in 1966 but when Herman's Hermits released the song the following year it became a major hit.
The Carpenters released the song as "There's a Kind of Hush (All Over the World)" as their lead single from their 1976 album of the same name. The single reached Number 12 on the US Billboard Pop chart but became their 13th Number One on the US Easy Listening chart.
In 1973 Elvis recorded a version of "Welcome to my World". "What the World Needs Now Is Love" has been recorded by over 100 artists since it was first recorded by Jackie DeShannon in 1965. Richard Carpenter and John Bettis composed "Top of the World" and it became the second US Number One hit for The Carpenters in 1973.

"Rockin' All Over the World" was covered by Status Quo two years later and became one of their staple songs. Status Quo opened the 1985 Live Aid concert with "Rockin' All Over the World".
"Only You" and "Oh My My" were released by Ringo Starr in 1974. "Boogie Down" was a Number Two US single by former member of the Temptations Eddie Kendricks. Former Bread founder David Gates had a Number 29 solo single with "Never Let Her Go" in 1975.

"Beginnings" was recorded for the band's "The Chicago Transit Authority" 1969 album and released as a single. "Colour My World" was originally released as the flip side to "Make Me Smile" in 1970.
"Beginnings" was released again in June, 1971, with "Colour My World" as "Beginnings/Colour My World" and both songs received extensive airplay. The album recording of "Beginnings" was over seven minutes in length and had to be cut to under three minutes for the single.
James Pankow composed "Colour My World". Terry Kath sang lead and the flute solo was done by Walter Parazaider. Bill Champlin and Robert Lamm took over vocals for the song in concert after Kath's 1978 death.
"Lowdown" and "Free" were from their 1971 "Chicago III" album. "Questions 67 and 68" had "I'm A Man" as the "B" side.

Stephen Stills released an album titled "Stills" in 1975 that did not yield a successful single.
