3. Which singer had a Number 16 US hit with "Winter World of Love" in 1970?

From Quiz The "World" of Music in the Seventies

Answer: Engelbert Humperdinck

"Winter World of Love" was released in 1969 by Engelbert Humperdinck and went to Number 16 the following year. He was born Arnold George Dorsey and was a saxophone player early in his musical career. He served a stint in the service and contracted tuberculosis upon his discharge. When he regained his health in 1965 he signed with Decca Records and changed his stage name. Two years later he topped the US charts with "Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)", a song originally composed in 1946 by James Pebworth, Robert Yount and Eddie Miller. "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" was a 1970 Top Forty hit from Lenny Welch. Tom Jones made the charts with "Can't Stop Loving You" and "Daughter of Darkness" the same year. From Quiz The Musical "World" of the Sixties

Answer: Sam Cooke

Same Cooke recorded "Wonderful World" in 1959 for his Keen Records album "The Wonderful World of Sam Cooke" The song was composed by Cooke along with Herb Alpert and Lou Adler. Sam's original version reached Number 12 in 1960 on the US charts. Herman's Hermits' version left out a verse but still topped out at Number Four in the US and peaked at Number Seven in the UK. The Motown group The Supremes were one of the first groups to record a cover version after Cooke's death for their "We Remember Sam Cooke" LP in 1965. Sam Cooke's version was used in the 1978 film, "Animal House", during the food fight scene. "Am I the Man" was a Top Forty single for Jackie Wilson in 1960. 5. In 1982 the group Men at Work went to number one on American, British and Australian charts with the song titled "Land Down Under". It also became a popular patriotic song in Australia. For what reason is Australia nicknamed "Down Under"?

Answer: It is below the equator

On a standard globe, the northern hemisphere is on top and the southern hemisphere is at the bottom. The equator divides the northern hemisphere from the southern hemisphere. Therefore, because Australia is completely below the equator, it is known as "down under" (i.e. under the equator).

From Quiz Rewritten Song Titles Mentioning Geography

Answer: The Night Chicago Died

"Leningrad" is based on Viktor Razinov's life story, although Joel took some artistic license. For instance, he explains in his "Nuremberg Series: An Evening of Questions and Answers" that he had made Viktor older than he was in order for him to have been born in the aftermath of the Siege of Leningrad in 1944. They met during Joel's tour of the Soviet Union and Viktor attended each of his six concerts culminating in him meeting Joel's daughter after the final concert in Leningrad. Viktor travelled to the U.S. in 2015 to attend Joel's concert and he played Leningrad in tribute to his friend. The last verse to the song: "And so my child and I came to this place To meet him eye to eye and face to face He made my daughter laugh, then we embraced We never knew what friends we had Until we came to Leningrad " "Leningrad" was not a great hit on the charts, only reaching position fifty-three on the UK Singles chart, although it did fairly well on the German, Dutch and Belgian charts reaching position fourteen, fifteen and seventeen respectively.
