Answer: cow

 The song: "Cowtown". The album: "Lincoln". Interpretation? The "cow beneath the sea" refers to manatees, which are also called sea cows.
2. "I should pour through the _________ or evaporate completely."

Answer: keyhole

 The song: "It's not my Birthday". The album: "Miscellaneous T". Interpretation? One interesting theory is that the song is sung from the point of view of a glass of water and pouring through the keyhole means pouring through a spigot.
3. "Well the TV's in ________ ."

Answer: Esperanto

 The song: "Alienation's for the Rich". The Album: "They Might Be Giants". Interpreatation? Esperanto is an international language that was developed by linguists and is based on Latin. Obviously, it would be difficult for most people all over the world to understand a TV in Esperanto (it is spoken, but the idea of an artificial language never really took off).

 The song: "I Palindrome I". The Album: "Apollo 18". Interpretation? Pretty easy one if you realized this was a palindrome (a word that is spelled the same backward of forward, or a phrase that reads the same backward or forward).

 The song: "Number Three". The Album: "They Might Be Giants". This is indeed the third song of their first album.

Answer: Marvin Gaye

 The song: "The Day". The album: "They Might Be Giants". Interpretation? Marvin Gaye is a soul singer, Phil Ochs is a folk singer. Could be the marriage of soul and folk. Not sure about this one.

Answer: car

 The song: "Out of Jail". The album: "John Henry".
8. "And yet the sun is only a ________ sized star."

Answer: middle

 The song: "Why Does the Sun Shine?". The album: "Severe Tire Damage". The interpretation: This song actually came from a record album of songs for kids from the '50s. It was not written by TMBG.
9. "And clawing at nothing, you drop through the ________."

Answer: void

 The song: "Spiralling Shape". The album: "Factory Showroom". The interpretation: According to the Johns, this song is about how our culture embraces a new idea and then just as quickly discards it. It could be anything such as, "smart drugs, virtual whatever, spin art."
10. "I took off the intellectuals, I put on ___________."

Answer: They Might Be Giants

 The song: "Untitled". The album: "Miscellaneous T". The interpretation: Back in the old days, Dial-a-Song was just their answering machine, so people calling could leave messages. This is a message that appeared on their answering machine. Some of the interpreations are my own best guess, others come from the unofficial website www.tmbg.org
