Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The title track and only single released from this album, "Who's Sorry Now" is Marie Osmond's cover of a 1958 hit by which female star, who also started as a teen idol?

Answer: Connie Francis

"Who's Sorry Now" by Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby and Ted Snyder was a standard when Connie Francis recorded it, having been written in 1923. Unlike Connie's record, which reached Number four on the Billboard 100 chart, Marie's version only peaked at Number forty.

It did better on Billboard's Country chart, making it to Number twenty-nine and the Adult Contemporary (Easy Listening) chart, where it peaked at Number twenty-one.
2. "Anytime" was an original, written for Marie Osmond's "Who's Sorry Now" album.

Answer: False

Both Country & Western star Eddy Arnold in 1948 and Pop idol Eddie Fisher in 1951 had successful records with "Anytime," written by Herbert "Happy" Lawson in 1921. The arrangement used by Marie has a definite Country feel, reminiscent of Arnold's recording.
3. Here is the lyric for the bridge of a song from Marie Osmond's album "Who's Sorry Now." What is the song's title? "Promises are easy to make But maybe even easier to break It's done all the time But darling I'm Not about to with so much at stake"

Answer: This I Promise You

"This I Promise You" by Ronald C. Myers appeared on the B-side of "Who's Sorry Now," the only single released from this album. For my money, it is by far the prettiest song on the album. Marie performs it with a maturity and poise not apparent in the album's other tracks, as well as with a sweet sincerity that never fails to make my eyes mist.

She sang the song on "The Donny & Marie Show," January 21, 1977.
4. Complete the lyric and find the title to this song from "Who's Sorry Now" by Marie Osmond. "On a day like today We'd pass the time away Writing _____"

Answer: Love Letters in the Sand

Written by J. Fred Coots, Charles F. Kenny and Nick A. Kenny, "Love Letters in the Sand" is a 1931 song. Initially recorded by Gene Austin, it is perhaps best known by Pat Boone's 1957 Number One hit. The arrangement Marie uses has a '50s vibe, though it is not identical to Boone's.
5. Is "Making Believe," from Marie Osmond's album "Who's Sorry Now," a happy song?

Answer: No

Jimmy Work's 1955 song "Making Believe" describes the forlorn fantasy life of someone whose love is gone forever.
6. Select the correct answer to complete the lyric and find the title to this song from Marie Osmond's "Who's Sorry Now" album: "I'm lonesome to hold you near me I promise to make things right These are _____ Every lonely night"

Answer: The Things I Tell My Pillow

Sonny James and Jim Jones wrote "The Things I Tell My Pillow." The other choices don't appear in the song. As far as I know, none of them is a song title.
7. The song "Among My Souvenirs" appears on Marie Osmond's "Who's Sorry Now" album. In the closing words of the song, what does Marie find among her souvenirs?

Answer: A broken heart

Though all these items are mentioned in the lyrics, the song concludes with the line:

"I find a broken heart among my souvenirs"

The song was written in 1927 by Edgar Leslie and Horatio Nicholls. It is a Pop standard that has been recorded by the likes of Connie Francis and the redoubtable Frank Sinatra.
8. Sometimes the title of a song is the first lyric; sometimes it is the last. As sung by Marie Osmond on her "Who's Sorry Now" album, what position is the title "Jealous Heart" in the song's lyric?

Answer: Both

The 1944 song "Jealous Heart" by Jenny Carson is fairly unusual in that the song's title appears as both its first and last lyric, as well as recurring throughout the course of the lyric.
9. Does the track "Clinging Vine" from Marie Osmond's "Who's Sorry Now" album begin with an instrumental intro?

Answer: No

The track starts cold, that is immediately with the song being sung. Also, unlike many vocal recordings, this track does not include an instrumental interlude.

"Clinging Vine" was written by Leon Carr, Gary Lane and Earl Shuman.
10. In "It's The Little Things" on Marie Osmond's "Who's Sorry Now" album, what is it that the little things do?

Answer: Make me love you so

The simple yet touching "It's the Little Things," written by Sonny James in 1967, catalogues the everyday actions that make the beloved dear and "make me love you so."
