She starred alongside movie giants, such as Rock Hudson ("Magnificent Obsession" 1954) and Kirk Douglas ("The Glass Menagerie" 1950). She also became known in the television age for her role on "Falcon Crest". Which Academy Award and Golden Globe winning Jane passed away in 2007?

Answer: Jane Wyman

Jane Wyman was a woman of several names including Jane Reagan when she was President Reagan's first wife. She was born Sarah Jane Mayfield in the state of Missouri. When she was five years of age, her father died of pneumonia and she was unofficially adopted by her next-door neighbours.

She took the surname Fulks in their honour. Jane received the Best Actress award in 1948 from both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes for her powerful portrayal of a single mother fighting to keep her child in the movie "Johnny Belinda".
2. Which Jane, born in 1537 to the Marquess of Dorset, sat on the English throne for a short period of time before losing her head...literally?

Answer: Lady Jane Grey

The "Nine Days Queen" is how this Jane is now regarded in history. Poor Jane Grey's claim to the English throne was that her mother was the daughter of Henry VIII's sister Mary. She was deemed to have a better claim to the throne than Princesses Elizabeth and Mary, both of whom had both disinherited by their loving father Henry.
3. Which rock band, with a link to the name Jane, was led by Perry Farrell before breaking up in 1991?

Answer: Jane's Addiction

Jane's Addiction was created in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band consisted of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins. Between 1991 and 2008 the band reformed and broke up on numerous occasions, with the band members going into other groups.

The other band names are also real.
4. Born the daughter of a Royal Navy captain in 1946, Jane Birkin is known the world over for one famous (or should that be infamous?) song, "Je t'aime moi non plus". This song sold a million copies within months of its release in the late 1960s. Who did she duet with on the song?

Answer: Serge Gainsbourg

Jane Birkin first met Serge in Paris, France in 1969 when Pierre Grimblat wished her to play opposite the heartbroken ex-lover of Brigitte Bardot. After a rocky first meeting in which Jane was reduced to tears by the gruff Serge, she recorded an album with him. On the album, she sang four of her own tracks as well as the celebrated "Je t'aime".

The censors went ballistic, forcing the song underground--where everyone wanted to hear it.
5. Born in 1933, in Bryn Mawr, Vera Jayne Palmer would end up living in a pink mansion in Hollywood. Known for playing the "dumb blonde" on the movie screen, this Jayne claimed to have an IQ 163. Which "Jane" was the first American motion picture actress to appear nude in a legitimate major motion picture?

Answer: Jayne Mansfield

Many considered Jayne Mansfield to be the poor man's Marilyn Monroe, with neither the talent nor the vulnerability of the former sex goddess. By the end of her career, Jayne was involved in some rather naff sexploitation films which tarnished the other 25 films she had made previously.

The highlight of her career was winning the 1957 Golden Globe award for "Most Promising Female Newcomer".

Since 1998, Jane has produced many albums and has appeared on television, finally becoming a regular presenter on "Loose Women".

Jane Fonda received the nickname "Hanoi Jane" from the right-wing American press for her trip to North Vietnam in 1972 during the Vietnam War. Ms. Fonda had been an anti-war activist since the beginning of the '70s, touring university campuses and campaigning against the invasion of Cambodia and the Vietnam War. For an actress to speak out against the Vietnam War was extraordinary, but to travel to one's country's enemy land was unheard of. Ms. Fonda was branded a traitor and was vilified in the press.

In 2006, the senators of Georgia, Ms. Fonda's home state, voted 38 to one against a resolution praising her for her charity work. This was likely due to her anti-war activism in the 1970s.

Jane Seymour was the only one of Henry VIII's six wives to produce a son and heir. She may have come close to the executioner's axe in 1536 when she asked the King to grant pardons for those involved in the Pilgrimage of Grace revolt. It should be noted that she was also a lady-in-waiting to Catherine of Aragon, however she did not face the executioner's axe.
